The Simpsons Game (working title)?

[edit]

At E3 during the simpsons game discussion on the show floor, the developer speaking said that this may be the real title, like a joke. Meaning the title name may actually be The Simpson Game (working title). What are all your thoughts on this topic? I'll post the link to the e3 video below. Lets discuss this here instead of having an edit war... http://e3.gamespot.com/live.html?tag=event_nav;live ... here is the link, look under the Wednesday tab at 7pm and watch the video containing this info, thank you again everyone. --EveryDayJoe45 19:25, 13 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think we need a better source than that and should go back to the title that has officially been given. even if it is a temp title. -- Scorpion0422 03:51, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
That probably is the best move,a nyone agree? --EveryDayJoe45 04:05, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
If nobody else sayas anything in the following two hours, its going back to the old page. --EveryDayJoe45 14:12, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Discussion closed, page being restored to old form. --EveryDayJoe45 15:41, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Simpsons Coming to Every Platform

[edit]

I noticed the removal of information regarding rumors the game may be coming to 'every platform ever made'. I believe that even if this is just for comedic purpose on the trailer it should be noted. Therefore If I do not recieve any objections in a 3 day time frame, I will go ahead with the new section.Saran81kid91 05:32, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's okay if you want to put that in the article somewhere (under a trailers section perhaps - also make it clear that it was a joke), but please don't add it to the infobox - that is supposed to be for official information, and readers who quickly glance at the platforms section will just be left confused. SeanMooney 07:10, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

it should be in there. but make sure you note the information and where you got it from (basically cite it) and make sure you mention that it may just be for publicity or simpsons-esque-humour

Can someone provide reference to a version of the trailer which jokingly lists the original Xbox as one of the target platforms? The version I've seen doesn't list it (although it DOES list everything else), but someone believes that it's there and reverted my edit. While I'm entirely willing to believe that such a version exists, I have been unable to find it and the respective reference link is turning up a 404 error. --WNivek 23:23, 12 September 2007 (UTC) and edited WNivek 03:45, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well I definitly remember seeing one with what I thought was the XBox image on it, but meh. Remove the logo if you wish. Gran2 06:13, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

it comes out on Ps2, most new games have come out on Ps2, but none have come on Xbox, why because it is unfair bullshit, yeh there is a new console out, so what, they still can bring a game out on the original and if they cant bring any for Xbox, stop bringing em out for Ps2. Rakarno. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.161.90.144 (talk) 21:56, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The PS2 has far more users and is economically more viable than the Xbox. Not because someone wants to be unfair to you. I'm sorry that you bought the Xbox and it ended up flopping a bit but the fact of the matter is that games are released for PS2 rather than Xbox because game developers do not think they will make nearly as much money with an Xbox version. - 24.10.25.141 05:54, 26 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've always found that the PS2's next-gen alternative, the PS3, is too expensive to convince PS2 fans to pry their fingers away from their console of choice. Many, many Xbox owners are going to be buying the Xbox 360 for all the "big sequels" like Halo 3 and, I dunno... I don't have an Xbox 360. But anyways, PS2 ports are always going to be cheaper to make - and ported games from next-gen platforms are naturally crap anyway, so why complain that it's a crock of bull shit when ported games are bull shit anyway? --124.177.27.213 09:49, 24 September 2007 (UTC) (Just saying what I feel)[reply]

Cel-Shaded?

[edit]

I'm not sure that The Simpsons Road Rage was solid 3D rendering, many of the vehicles and characters do have an outline, and in the instruction booklet it says it uses cel-shader technology of sorts to "provide the authentic look of the Simpsons". Could someone get a further look at this possibly wrong and easily fixable information? Also, whay all box art different? Is this a Fox Interactive or EA initiative? 'Cos it's kind of weird.--124.177.27.213 09:45, 24 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Demo

[edit]

Can someone add that a demo came out for it on the PlayStation Store for the PS3 on Oct. 4th. Thanks!--Playstationdude 21:58, 4 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There's also a demo on the xbox live marketplace with the level in which bart and homer have to open three hatches to destroy Lard Lad--84.60.205.86 19:56, 9 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

same one on ps3 --Playstationdude 23:54, 9 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

shut up, guys, nobody cares --124.177.27.213 09:50, 11 October 2007 (UTC) also, what about the wii? does it gets a demo?[reply]

I doubt the Wii will get a demo, as it does not currently have a demo channel(although one is promised for the future). Aericanwizard 21:14, 11 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Release Dates Query

[edit]

OK, so the gam eis coming out for all those platforms (PS2, PS3, Xbox 360, PSP, Wii and Nintendo DS), but are all teh release dates the same, or will some versions come out later/earlier? It sometimes happens, and the writing of the PS2 code may take time... does anyone know about this?! Are they all the same?!? I'M FREAKING OUT HERE! --124.177.27.213 09:49, 11 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Advertising

[edit]

Is there a link to the videos mentioned, are they on the internet somewhere? As I have never seen nor heard about these before.

xbox?

[edit]

The lead clearly says that the game is available for PS2, PS3 as well as for other platforms. Why is it that the box artwork displays the XBox 360 logo so prominently? Is it because we got a free hand with the art work from Microsoft that others did not give? Was there a discussion on the box work? Just curious. --Kushalt 00:30, 4 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've got a perfectly good promotional poster saved, that I found on Simpsons Channel a while back. It doesn't specify with one particular console, should we use that instead? Gran2 07:15, 4 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If you can upload it and make sure it does not get deleted for licensing issues, I'd say be my guest. (Maybe you should upload as a new file and not as a version of the current file.) Thanks a lot, kushal --Kushalt 02:31, 5 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Are you allowed just to crop off the xbox header? 60.242.139.60 03:17, 1 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

PS3 box art

[edit]

I think that we should use the Xbox 360 box art for this page instead of the PS3 box art, because it is more general. The PS3 box art has something going on on the cover, whereas the Xbox 360 box art is pretty much just general. (71.10.172.137 11:32, 5 November 2007 (UTC))[reply]

To avoid a potential edit war (and possible fanboyism) over the cover art, perhaps the all versions image should be used for the infobox. UnfriendlyFire 00:33, 6 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, originally the all versions image was used, but it CAUSED an edit war, a lot of it actually, so we went back to the XBox image. Generally, I would prefer the all systems one rather than showing favourtism towards one system. I have been reverting back to the XBox cover because it was the first image used, and we should avoid changing the lead image once a week. -- Scorpion0422 01:48, 6 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with the first argument, the XBOX 360-cover is more minimalistic and representative than the others, featuring Homer in his trademark "Woo-hoo"-position. I think we should keep it as it is. Wikiburger 13:44, 6 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A possible suggestion is that instead of a cover in the infobox, we use the game's logo (which is consistent across the platforms), and note that each cover is slightly different. I do agree that if a cover must be used, the 360 is probably the best one, but here's another idea that still serves the purpose needed without showing any possible bias. --MASEM 13:49, 6 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Differences between versions

[edit]

Could somebody edit this to make clear what the differences rae between versions, say, the PS2 and PS3 version. Obviously graphics are different. So what kind of graphics do the other formats use? I'm just saying it could be clearer. --124.177.6.30 07:59, 6 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A lot of stuff was also cut out off the PS2 version, such as the Springfield Hub, some sections of the levels, other power ups (Marge Cop, Robo-Bart, Insanity Pepper-Homer Ball), etc. --192.103.98.4 11:13, 6 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

NPOV?

[edit]

To quote one section of the article, "The game includes a 2-Player Co-Op mode which is really fun.". I think that it could use a bit of a revision... D00M3R 22:11, 6 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Release Dates

[edit]

When was the PS2 version of this game released in Austrlia? Was it 8th? Becuase one website has coerced me into thinking its the 15th of November... --124.177.6.30 22:21, 9 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Game/pop culture references

[edit]

I strongly urge people not to add a section about what game references there are in this game - while some are obvious and straight forward, such a section is going to beg for newer editors to add in very askew possibilities ("Homer doing something here is almost how X did something in Y and so is obviously a reference to Y"). I would take the path that the specific Simpsons episodes mention: if it can be sourced directly from the developers/writers of the game that it references X, then we can add that, but if not, please don't add it. --MASEM 14:09, 11 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

NDS differences

[edit]

The NDS version is in 2D, but there is no mention of that in this article. Also, some of the levels are named differently (ex. "Neverquest" is named "Mythos of Marge" in the DS version). Just pointing it out. 99.251.242.151 (talk) 19:25, 29 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Forget the 2D thing, but in addition to the above, certain elements of the plot are ommitted or different in the DS version (ex. there is no mission where you collect flags). 99.251.242.151 (talk) 19:31, 29 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

sonic in the game

[edit]

some people said sonic made a cameo appearance in the game is that true?--99.241.156.180 (talk) 14:40, 26 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

He does, in the 'Enter the Cheatrix' level along with 'Mario'. Now just remember, this isn't a forum, this is suppose to be a discussion about improving the Wikipedia profile. InfernoSonic, 28 January 2008 19:38 (UTC)

Medal of Homer

[edit]

For some reason I cant find medal of homer in the ds version. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Roxy2k7 (talkcontribs) 06:37, 27 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

That's because it's not in the DS version along with Grand Theft Scratchy. Now just remember, this isn't a forum, this is suppose to be a discussion about improving the Wikipedia profile. InfernoSonic, 28 January 2008 19:38 (UTC)

Take a Xbox cover art

[edit]

I think we should take the xbox 360 cover art instead of the wii cover. the xbox cover ist the only one on which homer is happy and because of that and because the happy homer picture was also featured on the ea site we can consider the xbox cover to be kind of "final". I don'T mean to offend anybody, i am no fanboy, i just think it would be better to have the 360's cover--Pfeifferphilipp (talk) 13:27, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Personally I too think the 360 cover art would be the best one to use because of the pose. Also I believe the 360 version was the first one used and somebody changed it to the Wii box art, though it's hard to tell as the old images have been deleted. Having said that it probably doesn't matter as they're all real cover art and so all can be legitimately used. If a consensus forms to use the 360 box art I'll support it, but I don't think it's a massive issue. Bill (talk|contribs) 13:46, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I agree, the Xbox 360 cover is way better, but does it need the Xbox bannerhead? Could that be cropped? --Simpsons fan 66 08:34, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
For a game like this it should be cropped to avoid console favouritism. Salavat (talk) 07:41, 10 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Story Section

[edit]

Does the story section have to be a level by level outline of the game? It seems to me that a general overview of the story would fit more with Wikipedia as an encyclopedia. Raan0001 (talk) 16:58, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

characters

[edit]

I think we should work in a table that contains the five family members and his powers--Shabe0mac 01:33, 10 July 2008 (UTC)Shabe0mac

No, that is just useless listcruft. --Simpsons fan 66 23:00, 11 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image

[edit]

I think there needs to be an image of the game. While it would be yet one more fair use image, it's necessary for the reader I believe. - The New Age Retro Hippie used Ruler! Now, he can figure out the length of things easily. 05:28, 4 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please read this discussion. —TheLeftorium 10:25, 4 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It seems to me that the complaints were that the previous image was not good enough to pass fair use criteria, not that a fair use screenshot was inappropriate. - The New Age Retro Hippie used Ruler! Now, he can figure out the length of things easily. 01:44, 5 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It really does seem silly that there's no image of the game. The objections in the above discussion are fair enough but I think simply removing the image in order to strike the oppose was the wrong thing to do. It seems pretty strange to me that the rationale for including the box art is that it "help[s] the reader identify the game, assure the reader they have reached the right article containing critical commentary about the game, and illustrate the nature of the game in a way that words alone could not convey." when really a screenshot is probably a better way of identifying a game (and no, this doesn't mean I support the removal of the box art!) I've never played the game and, while the gameplay section is good, I certainly don't come away thinking I completely understand what the game looks like. What's the "Hand of Buddha"? What does the HUD look like? What do the enemies look like? "GameTrailers thought the graphics and animations looked great and appreciated the hand-drawn appearances" - ok so what do the graphics look like? Cavie78 (talk) 11:34, 13 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
