Cast listing

Per WP:GAMECRUFT #11, cast listings are preferred to be in prose and sourced. A snapshot of the credits on some fan's Twitter account isn't usable, that is no different than general WP:USERG policies. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 20:20, 29 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • It's one of the instances where I think a character list should be included, both due to (1) the level of SIGCOV specifically about its roster, and (2) the fact most characters have their own article, making them independently notable; and lastly because (3) it's not unwieldly huge with hundreds of entries (we're talking 20-something so far). • If we're talking character list, I don't mind it - I generally support them in the (very few) fighting game articles I've written/maintained. But consensus on that seems to vary from game to game based on the discussion of the participants. But cast list (as in voice actors list), I'm definitely against that. There's really no precedent I can think of that allows for a bare list of characters and their VAs, as far as I recall. Sergecross73 msg me 20:33, 29 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • I'm sure an argument can be made that Dragonball voice acting gets more coverage than any other similar situation, and character list with JP/EN VA doesn't seem too problematic to me. More than half of VA would be bluelinks, meaning we're aiding navigation, not just listing-for-the-sake-of-listing. Ben · Salvidrim!  20:41, 29 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Well, if it's something that could be argued, it certainly it certainly isn't something that has been successfully argued yet. Judging by "Template:Dragon Ball games" Dragon Ball fighting games come about on about a yearly basis, and none of the last 10 I spotchecked have a cast list, and only 1 out of 10 even had a character list at all (and that article was in pretty rough shape.) • If this is the case (not arguing against the notability of the actors here), then it should still be written into prose. A basic table should never be done, even in film articles. It's lazy and unprofessional. As for the character list, fighting games seem to have a grandfather clause that allows them in their articles, which is a separate debate. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 22:33, 29 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • WP:CASTLIST is MOS:FILM guideline, video games have their own, therefore they shouldn't conflict. And how would you select the 10 most significant characters without somebody arguing that another character belongs there? I just don't see how this is helpful at all, when there would be no limit in prose. And even then, it's just fighting game that uses the same actors that voice the characters in the animes, so wouldn't listing it also be redundant? ~ Dissident93 (talk) 23:09, 30 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
