MC Championship

The MC Championship, also known as MCC, is a championship event where popular creators of the Minecraft community compete in various minigames in teams of four to win. MCC is organized by Smajor and Noxcrew.

Gameplay

In MC Championship, ten teams of four players compete in a series of various mini-games focusing on a variety of core skills in Minecraft, including combat, parkour, survival and teamwork. Eight games are played, and then the two teams with the most coins go head to head in a final game to determine the winner, a 4v4 bow duel game named Dodgebolt.

Decision Dome

Each mini-game is decided by the players through a voting process that takes place in the Decision Dome, a large dome with a wheel in the center. Each player is given an egg to throw into the section of the wheel that corresponds to the game they want to play. Additionally, players are randomly chosen to receive power-ups.

Minigames

There are a variety of mini-games in MCC, each focusing on a different aspect of Minecraft's gameplay mechanics. These games include Ace Race, Battle Box, Big Sales at Build Mart, Grid Runners, Hole in the Wall, Meltdown, Parkour Tag, Rocket Spleef Rush, Sands of Time, Sky Battle, Survival Games, and TGTTOSAWAF. Games are rotated out for new ones as needed to keep things fresh. Sometimes games can change based on holidays or non-canon events.

Scoring

MCC uses coins to keep track of scores. These coins are individually earned by players in each game and pooled together through the entire team to calculate the team's score. The value of coins multiplies as more games are played. Because of this, players often elect to save their best games for the end.

Dodgebolt

Dodgebolt is the final game. It is a showdown between the top two teams and determines the event's winner. The two teams are placed opposite to each other on the playing field, unable to cross into each other's sides of the map. Two arrows drop at the start of the round to be picked up by players and used to shoot the opposite team. If a player is hit with an arrow once, they are eliminated for the current round.

Dodgebolt is played as a best-of-five-rounds game, and whoever reaches three wins first wins the event.

Trivia

• In an episode of the All Things MCC Podcast, Sapnap mentioned that he had no idea of how Dream and George discovered MCC and decided to participate. After learning of it from the two and finding it really fun, he told Dream that he wanted to play in MCC and was added to the event.^[4]
• MCC 25 was the first time Sapnap participated in MCC as the only Dream Team member. This would continue again with MCC 26. With his participation in MCC 26, Sapnap has been in more MCCs than Dream and George. From every MCC since MCC 25 except MCC 29 and MCC Twitch Rivals, Sapnap has been the sole Dream Team member participating.
  • Similarly, BadBoyHalo will be the only Muffinteer member to participate in MCC 28. Prior to this, only he and Sapnap were the only members in MCC 26.
• Dream is the second of only two players to ever complete Parkour Warrior (the first being PeteZahHutt), and the only player to do so multiple times, completing it in MCC 8, 10, and 11.
• Even though Dream no longer does MCC, he still goes on the practice server in maintaining his number 1 spot in the Parkour Warrior course. He return around late 2023 to beat Fruitberries' time.
• Sapnap's highest individual score is 4223, the second-highest score ever.
• As of MCC 34, Sapnap has a total of 7 canon wins.
• Sapnap is the best performing player among the Dream Team. During a discussion about team balancing after MCC AS, Scott mentioned that Sapnap had gotten so good in MCC that he is incredibly difficult to balance in a team.^[5] After preventing a Sands of Time finale two times in a row in both MCC 25 and MCC 26, Scott joked that he would bench Sapnap the next MCC.^[6]
• Since MCC 11, the Dream Team have been funneled the arrows when any have been in Dodgebolt.
• The Dream Team all dislike Build Mart. Out of them, only Sapnap has had his team place first in Build Mart, doing so in MCC 18.
  • Ironically, MCC 25 (which Dream and George did not participate in) is the first MCC to not feature Build Mart since it was introduced.
• Out of the Dream Team, Sapnap has worn team skins the most. He is the only Dream Team member to win MCC wearing a casual (MCC 15), team (MCC 21), and a mandatory skin (MCC 11, 18, and 19).
• During MCC 16, players wore a purple ribbon on their Minecraft skins to raise awareness for cancer after Technoblade announced his cancer diagnosis.^[7] Additionally, Dream donated a dollar for every MCC coin that his team earned towards cancer research which added up to $21,409.^[8][9]
  • Awesamdude and Skeppy matched Dream's amount.^[10][11] TapL also matched his own individual coins,^[12][13] and Fundy donated all of the money he got from stream donations during the event.^[14]
• The Dream Team were in a team in MCC 7 alongside Sylvee, MCC 11 alongside Karl Jacobs, and MCC All-Stars alongside BadBoyHalo. They won MCC 11 and MCC AS.
  • After MCC AS, Sylvee suggested that Scott put MCC 7 Purple Pandas in a team again. However, Scott refused to. During the conversation, Punz was surprised that they did not win back then as a team.^[15]
• There have been several MCCs where only two members of the Dream Team were in a team.
  • Dream and George were teamed together in MCC 6, 10, 14, 18, 22, Pride 2022, and 24. They won in MCC Pride 2022 and 24.
    • The combination of Dream and George has occurred the most. As a result, Sapnap has been in the fewest team combinations where he is with another member of the Dream Team.
  • George and Sapnap were in a team in MCC 8, 9, 17, 23, and Twitch Rivals.
  • Sapnap and Dream were only in a team in MCC 15, and they won. After the event, Scott said that he will never team the two again in a canon MCC.^[16]
• There have been times where the Dream Team did not participate in MCC since their debuts. MCC 20 is the first MCC to not feature any of the Dream Team. This would be followed with MCC 27, since this MCC was for players who have not won an MCC. MCC KO also did not feature any Dream Team.
  • George did not participate in MCC 15, 20, 25-28, 30 onwards. He did not participate in MCC 20 since Dream was not going to play in MCC.^[17] George did not sign up for MCC 25 since he was getting ready to move to America and was in the Sidemen Charity Match, which happened the same day MCC 25 was happening. During the match, Sapnap and Punz were watching online.
  • Dream did not participate in MCC 20 because he missed the sign-up date. At the time, he was also unsure if he was going to continue to play MCC due to the pressure.^[18] He decided to continue playing in MCC 21. After MCC 24, he decided to not continue participating in MCC.^[19]
  • Sapnap was originally going to participate in MCC 20,^[20] but got a ear infection where both his eardrums were ruptured leading him to step down.^[21] Sapnap signed up and was originally going to be in MCC 28 Pink Presents with Philza, Snifferish, and Ludwig before the team announcements. He stepped down before the team announcement. TapL mentioned stepping in for Sapnap while talking with Philza before the start of MCC 28.^[22] Sapnap also was not in MCC Season 4 Kick-Off
    • Thus, Sapnap is the only one in the Dream Team to sign up in almost every canon MCC.
• BadBoyHalo was initially supposed to participate in MCC 2 on the Pink Parrots, but dropped out due to Skeppy sleeping in.
• Antfrost revealed on January 31, 2022 that BadBoyHalo was originally going to be in MCC 17, but couldn't make it. CaptainPuffy was supposed to subbed in, but also couldn't make it, so Eret was subbed in before the team announcements of Aqua Axolotls. Antfrost was unsure of why they were unable to participate.^[23]
• MCC 12, 13, 16, 19, and 21 are the only MCCs where none of the Dream Team were teamed together since their debuts.
  • One member of the Dream Team has won in each of these MCCs except MCC 13. George won in MCC 12, Dream won in MCC 16 and Sapnap won in MCC 19 and 21.
• None of the Dream Team has ever faced each other in Dodgebolt. There have been several mentions of the possibility.
  • Sapnap mentioned in both MCC 14^[24] and MCC 18^[25] that he did not want to face the Dream and George duo in Dodgebolt since it would be a loss.
  • Before MCC 19, Dream told Ranboo that he was scared to face Sapnap's team in Dodgebolt.^[26]
  • Before MCC 21, Dream joked that he would throw Sapnap's belongings out of the second floor window if he lost to Sapnap in Dodgebolt.^[27]
• As of MCC 22, every member of the Dream Team has lost a game of Dodgebolt.
  • George and Sapnap lost their first Dodgebolt in MCC 9.
  • It took four Dodgebolt wins (five with non-canon events) for Dream to lose his first ever Dodgebolt in MCC 22.^[28]
• Sylvee, Eret, CaptainSparklez, Karl Jacobs, Quackity, Tubbo, vGumiho, Ponk, and CaptainPuffy all have teamed with every member of the Dream Team.
  • Sylvee has teamed with Sapnap the most with five times.
  • Eret has teamed with George the most with four times.
  • Karl Jacobs is the only player to be teamed with a Dream Team member every time they have played MCC.^[29]
• At one point during Survival Games of MCC 17, Sapnap and George chased Dream, similar to Minecraft Manhunt. While spectating, Tommy mentioned this.^[30]
• As of MCC 18, every Hunter in Minecraft Manhunt has been in an MCC. While George, Sapnap, Antfrost, and Awesamdude were practicing Battle Box before MCC 18, George called their team "Team Hunters" and Sapnap suggested that they should be a future MCC team.^[31]
  • Antfrost has mentioned that a team with him, George, Bad, and Sapnap would be OP. He added it would be fairer if Sapnap was swapped out for Awesamdude.^[32]
  • MCC 21 became the 1st and Only event to feature all 5 Hunters and Speedrunner from Dream's Minecraft Manhunt: Minecraft Speedrunner VS 5 Hunters.
    • Every player except Bad and Antfrost were on separate teams.
• Before MCC 28, Dream announced on a Twitter space that he will not be participating in any future events due to rising skill levels (influenced by the release of MCC Island), no practicing time, and his competitive nature. This makes Dream the only Dream Team member to stop participating in MCC.^[19]
• On February 8, 2023, Sapnap confirmed he will still participate in MCC. He also commented on the long breaks in between MCC events, saying it should come back sooner.^[33]
• As of MCC 29, there have been every combination of just two members of the Dream Team participating.
  • MCC 6 only had Dream and George.
  • MCC 15 only had Sapnap and Dream.
  • MCC 29 only had George and Sapnap. Unlike the other two combinations, neither the two are in the same team.
