PISTON is a Portal-inspired Minecraft puzzle map. The puzzles herein rely primarily on the fishing rod as a companion item, similar to the portal gun. While its function is not quite as versatile, the player will find that it is quite a valuable and useful item. In each of the eleven main levels, you must combine your wits, fishing rod, and provided items to not only reach the door at chamber's end, but also pass through it. This is often easier said than done.
This map was designed under a unique restriction: every puzzle is completely resettable. As soon as the player completes the map, he can play it over again, up to 1143 times. Likewise, as soon as one player completes a level, another player can begin an attempt of their own. This feature allows this map to be pasted into any existing server, and it can be played by any members of the server as they see fit. However, playing the map cooperatively with another person will make some levels too easy and some impossible.
Play time can be extremely long, due to the difficulty of some puzzles. A tester who was present for puzzle development, and thus knew most of the solutions, still took three hours to finish this version. However, with practice (such as one gets from testing this map for months) a player can finish the map in under an hour.
Play on peaceful.
Updated to version two 5/31/12:
-fixed losing items in extended pistons. -removed Level 11's alternate (easy) solution. -moved a hidden sign slightly. -removed bed in Level 6: Lava.
Just cleared it. Original and neat map, I'd like to see a sequel.
That was staggeringly quick. I would never have expected speeds like that from a first run. I can guarantee that you didn't find the hidden signs with a time like that, though.
I'd like to make a co-op sequel, but developing these types of puzzles is fairly difficult.
It has a few minor bugs that can break the game. One of my pressure plates popped off into a piston that was pushed out. I could not pick up the pressure plate and I got stuck.

Thanks for the report. What level was that on?
EDIT: I don't think this problem is big enough to warrant a new download. If this, or any other problem like this, happens to you, you can always kill yourself (by starving) and try again.
Also, killing yourself will not get you a new pressure plate. On the level with the lava, setting your spawn with the bed won't help anything because if you die in it, your items burn too.

If you kill yourself, it should send you to the beginning of the map, and new items should be dispensed as you enter each level as if it was your first time going through. That is a good point about the lava level though.
Yeah I didn't find hidden signs, yet.
Although harder task was to do puzzle itself than figuring out what to do. I'll do a second run today and find that sings >:L
And here I thought the puzzles would be fairly difficult to figure out, and relatively easy to perform. (with the exeption of the web level.) Have you worked much with pistons or fishing rods in the past?
EDIT: Actually, a few of the levels can be done in ways other than the intended solution, although they are much more technically demanding to perform that way. Specifically, Level 7: Moving Walls. I'd be interested to see you play through this, if you have a recording program.
There are 3 or 4 hidden signs. You don't actually need to find them to get to the next area, but it'll certainly make it easier.
Also, where were you standing when you hit the pressure pad in Level 11? It's come to my attention that it's possible to press it from the exit door. This is not intended. If you do another run, try to avoid this method. I'm trying to figure out why the puzzles seem easy but the execution seemed hard.
Thanks to StarFuzion for the logo.

TROLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOSo early ragequits are good? Level two is kind of a strange one. The other levels are nothing like it.

If you received a pressure pad and didn't lose it in the extended piston (the 2-high platform), then it's working correctly.

[EDIT] i found it out. i had to walk on the very edge.
Could you spoiler the solution, please?
