I'm starting to put all the levels for the sequel in order, which means that the puzzle development period is coming to an end soon. If you liked any levels from PISTON 1, be sure to let me know so I can make more puzzles you'll enjoy for PISTON 2!
Got confused at the hub with all the challenges, beat them, but couldn't proceed (where it says stuff like "EXIT(SMP ONLY)" etc.
Still an amazing map. Never seen those puzzles before.
Also, the fishing rod was extremely frustrating to use, it would rarely latch onto the pressure pad.
I'm glad you enjoyed it! The reason the format of the map changed for the challenges was because some of them are so hard I didn't want to require them all to be completed to move on. The "EXIT (for SMP)" is for servers with this map in them. Since the whole thing is resettable, the facility could be accessed anytime and exited anytime. If you exited in SSP, you'd just be stuck on the side of the cube.
The fishing rod takes some practice to master, but I can get it to stick probably 80-90% of the time now. PISTON 2 will have a tutorial room for operating it. Some tips include skipping he bobber of the block you're standing on in order to hit a pad directly below, and throwing nearly straight down on pads you're standing on.
Did you find the hidden signs on your own? I might need to hide them in slightly easier-to-find places in the sequel.
When I played i didnt find any of the hidden signs. mostly because I was so focused on just beating the level. Maybe if you gave hints about which level there where in could be better. I will most defiantly play the next one.
The locations are given in a spoiler in the OP. I designed this map to be unbreakable, while following all the rules, such that you can't get anywhere you shouldn't be. The signs and their destination are in those places that require the most out-of-the-box thinking.
I really like the idea of this map, if you don't mind I'll add some levels that are similar to your idea, don't worry I'll make sure it's different from what you have here
Good luck. I hope you don't end up with levels I've already made for the sequel!
Since the only vote in the poll (that wasn't me) liked Level 7: Moving Walls, I've made a new moving wall puzzle! If there are any other puzzles you liked, please let me know so I can make more content you'll enjoy!
Hello everyone. It occurred to me that there are no complete LPs of PISTON because the players seemed to get stuck at various places (although TheCoolSquare seems to be doing fine, but hasn't uploaded the next part) so PISTON 2 will include hints. There will be a gold square on the wall or floor in difficult chambers, and the player will have to place their provided item (a lever or pressure plate normally) on that square, which, when activated, will open the wall revealing the hint. The hint will not solve the room for you, but simply highlight points of interest, methods of powering a piston as required in the puzzle, or reveal the proper configuration for the provided items. Hopefully this will allow more players to actually finish the map, especially since PISTON 2 is significantly harder than PISTON 1.
By "harder," I mean the puzzles are more difficult to solve. It should be just as easy, if not easier to actually do them when you know the solution.
Hi, I really enjoyed your map, I actually reached level 10 without cheating but I'm stuck here, It seems simple but can't get to the door when it is open. A little hint maybe ?
Thanks for playing! On level 10, you'll need to use both the button and the lever together to set up the path out. Think about how you solved the moving floor level-- the solution is the same here.
EDIT : Found 3 secret signs since now, I hope I didn't forget one ...
As long as you figured out where to go, it dos't matter how many signs you found.
EDIT 2 : I will maybe do a walktrough of this map when I will finish it ...
Feel free! As soon as I get around to it I'll do a walkthrough as well probably.
Hi,
The map seems very interesting !
However I'm stuck in a simple room because :
I don't manage to fall in the sand blocks that are above pistons like in the videos I saw. I place the pressure plate, go up, but don't fall inside sand.
Any tip ?
Thanks !
It sounds like you're not standing directly above the sand block, but instead getting caught on an adjacent block. It could also be lag, possibly. If the problem continues you can always break the sand for that puzzle. Thanks for playing!
PISTON 2 UPDATE:
Due to computer troubles, I haven't had access to the PISTON 2 files for almost a month. I had wanted to release the map by the end of summer, but given this issue it could be delayed few weeks. I need to make sure the update didn't change any piston properties that would interfere with the map's function, as some 1.2.5 bugs are exploited for bonus content.
Thanks, France, for the overwhelming number of videos over the past month. Special thanks to Mr. Tumiza for completing the whole thing; beta version and all.

After looking into it, I've determined that the 1.3 update has disabled this quirk! You'll need to break the sand block from now on, it seems.
Thank you!

I'm glad you found them! Did you try the beta version of the map?
Thanks. It becomes easier when you learn the tricks. For example, if you can bounce the bobber before hitting the pad, it'll stick much more often.

Is level 3 possible?
They're all possible.
