Secondary Trauma and Compassion Fatigue in Mediation and the Helping Professions

Deepen your understanding of secondary trauma and compassion fatigue with Tracy Roberts, a Licensed Master Social Worker and a founding member of Circle Center Consulting, LLC. By attending this engaging workshop, participants will be able to identify signs of secondary trauma and compassion fatigue, as well as identify the self-care tools and strategies for managing secondary trauma and compassion fatigue. Participants will learn about the Circle Process and understand aspects of the Circle Process when managing secondary trauma and compassion fatigue collectively. This course provides one hour of CLE/CME general education credits.

About Tracy Roberts

Tracy Roberts is a Licensed Master Social Worker and a founding member of Circle Center Consulting, LLC. A Jackson, Mississippi native, Tracy earned a degree in Social Work from the University of Mississippi and a Social Work Master Degree from the University of Tennessee. Upon graduating from UT, Tracy worked as an adolescent and family therapist at the Oasis Center on the Community Based Counseling Team and the Emergency Shelter. After serving as the Clinical Case Manager at The Oasis Center’s Transitional Living Program, he worked at Centerstone as a Drug and Alcohol therapist at Room In The Inn, helping men experiencing homelessness seeking recovery from addiction. Tracy’s professional background includes years of dedicated work as an adolescent/family therapist, addictions therapist, Circle facilitator and Circle trainer. Tracy is the lead Circle facilitator at Circle Center Consulting and works with non-profit and health care organization teams through great change, growth and conflict. Using a Collective Care model, Tracy assists organizations as they navigate issues such as secondary trauma and compassion fatigue.

Mediation Training

Mediation training is a 40- or 46-hour seminar focused on both the theory and practice of communication skills that have value in any workplace, family, or social setting. In Tennessee, the Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) oversees court-related mediation under TN Rule 31. In this capacity, they also oversee mediation training that complies with this Rule. NCRC requires that all volunteers have completed Rule 31 training.
