Arch Cape VRBO disappointment…

We recently stayed at a VRBO in Arch Cape Oregon that was very, very disappointing. Though a review was given both to the owner as well as the VRBO site detailing all the problems, neither the owner nor VRBO have ever reached out. Giant waste of $1800.00 for the place.

Stay In Kaukauna Wisconsin Baur House

Our recent trip was not as described in the listing. The pics were obviously staged for Vrbo. There were many issues ranging from Sewer Gas Smell in the lower unit to Trash issues, Cleanness and description of the property. When contacting the host our issues were not addressed.

Very disappointing

I wrote a disappointing review about the property we stayed at in Croatia. The review wasn’t displayed and I had no reply from the company. I have used Vrbo / Home and Away a number of times, all with below average experiences. Given they didn’t even respond to my recent review or post it on their website, I wouldn’t recommend this company and I won’t be using them again.

We paid a huge amount of money for a 5…

We paid a huge amount of money for a 5 week let in Spain. The place was nothing like the photos and after two days the owner contacted us to say the agent should not have rented it out because it was sold. needless to say VRBO have been totally useless and despite full description of the issue and many phone calls they finally sent a response from their H & S team about Algae in the pool!!!!!!
We have rented before without an issue but will never use them again given our issue with them when we did have a problem

Review ignored.

We booked a holiday in France based on the VRBO ratings.
Firstly the accomodation was not 10/10, it was good but certainly not 10/10.
Secondly, the 10/10 for communication was way out based on our experience.
Finally, and most importantly, we were informed that our feedback had been posted, yet when we looked it had NOT been posted. Although, feedback from from after our stay had been posted!!!

Rented a Villa in Portugal which actually wasn’t too bad but after the holiday they asked me for some feedback. I gave a very honest review and it has still not appeared alongside the property we rented. It would have taken the sheen off their 10/10 rating! So obvious they are picking which reviews to add as there are only 4…

Apartment didn’t exist on arrival

Booked & paid for an apartment, arrived in Spain for a 15 night stay, apartment not available (host AWOL). Vrbo have treated us appallingly! Refused to find us alternative accommodation & a week later, still no refund! Emails gone unanswered

Terrible terrible terrible

Terrible terrible terrible. Never got the code the morning of check in as the email stated. Had no place to stay after flying 1200 miles to our destination. Hours and hours on the phone trying to get the owner to answer (us and VRBO). Ended up having to find a last minute hotel for more than double the cost. Now they say the owner sent the code, you can go stay there. This is 5:30 PM. No one on the phone is empowered to actually help you. And all make you tell the story over, so clearly not documenting all the conversations. So frustrating. BTW still on hold with another person who doesn’t have the authority to do the right thing and just reimburse us.

House on the lake we rented last week…

House on the lake we rented last week was outstanding, very clean and organized, and exactly as shown in the pix. The nightly rate was fair, but the amount we had to pay for fees was almost half of the total rate, including the service fee that VRBO charged. The cleaning fee was definitely too high. Damage protection was mandatory, and we feel that it should be an optional charge, or at least refunded considering we did no damage. And, the fees were also charged state tax...that is just not right! I should have been diligent before making the reservations almost a year ago, at which time I would have NOT made them. No longer will be going through VRBO due to the exorbitant fees!

Booking through Vrbo was an expensive mistake

I booked and paid for a property that was advertised available on the dates I requested. Received an email the same day from the host that they had made a mistake and could I do different dates instead. Unsurprisingly I couldn't and so reservation cancelled. Instead of cancelling/voiding the initial transaction - my payment was refunded meaning I have lost 70 euros due to fees and the less favourable return exchange rate.

To rub salt into my wound - the property is still coming up as available on the site.

Be wary of VRBO

I would advise against using VRBO. I had a bad experience in renting a property in the Dordogne this year.The property advert was misleading in describing the actual property we rented. I took issue with VRBO and in my opinion gave constructive criticism .They refused to put my comments on their feed back page, they only want positive views so in my experience I would be wary of taking at face value the feed back they choose to show on their web site.

So I reserve a property that apparently…

So I reserve a property that apparently is listed on multiple sites and go figure it gets double booked and vrbo takes my money out of my account on July 22 and then tell me it's going to take a week for them to return my money this is unacceptable to take a few minutes to take someone's cash then hold it for a week...stay away from vrbo.....seriously if you are not rich and every penny counts do not use this site you will end up fronting twice as much for a hotel or bnb

Horrible Company

These people are incompetent, and they are liars. The house we checked into was under construction. Gutted bathrooms, electrical outlets hanging out of the wall, trim stripped off of the walls, industrial/professional dryers in every room.

It took hours for them to respond to us, and when they finally did, they offered us a different house that was also completely unacceptable. We decided to leave, and they still tried to charge us roughly 50% of our total cost.

VRBO was nowhere to be found when it was time to help us, although they were the first to have their hand out when it was time for us to pay.

We reported all of it as fraud.

It feels like my money has been stolen by Vrbo

I am absolutely appalled by my experience with VRBO. I booked a flat for £140.00 and the host did not show up. I was left stranded without access to the flat I had paid for. To make matters worse, VRBO's customer service was utterly useless in resolving the issue. They offered no meaningful assistance, and I have yet to receive a refund. It feels like my money has been stolen by this company. I will never use VRBO again and strongly advise others to avoid this unreliable and untrustworthy service provider.

Terrible experience for host. We haven't been paid and staff is not responsive

I usually don't write reviews but this is only to make people aware that your property and your money is at risk if you use this company in New Zealand. We haven't gotten payment for our first and only booking using this platform. Guest had only paid half of their stay and we haven't even received that. VRBO can't provide any solutions. Their call center is located overseas and their staff is not properly trained, they can't even speak English fluently. Avoid this company by all means. They don't have the processes and insurance in place if things go wrong like Airbnb. Terrible experience so far.

VRBO allows personal attacks & lies in their reviews.

After being long-time AirBNB users, we gave VRBO a try. We rented a place in London and when we left I let the homeowner know they had an ant problem but never intended to leave a bad review or anything. Just letting them know. Even though the owner ACKNOWLEDGED they have an ant problem, they left a hateful review with personal attacks on our character and VRBO is actually letting the review stay online. They even have a record of our correspondence proving this owner told 3 or 4 lies about us in their review. But VRBO says they have to leave it because it "meets their guidelines". If personal attacks and verifiable lies "meet your guidelines", you should not be business. We'll return to using AirBNB.

Host here not being paid

Host here, we have both of our properties on Vrbo, one via agency and one directly listed by us - this one had recently first customer via VRBO (many more from AirBnB or BDC, even Agoda since we listed last year), who left us 5* review, but 2 weeks later - no money from VRBO, I reached out to customer service and they gave me some mumbo-jumbo about my listing using channel manager software, and that someone will get back to me. Never happened. I just wanted to know when the money will arrive in my account since the guests checked out 2 weeks ago with 5* review... Not that I don't mind waiting for money, I just want to KNOW when the payment will arrive. Utterly unprofessional. The app and owner's dashboard is FULL of bugs and coded very poorly.

Beware - listings are false!

Beware! The listings are fraudulent. The photos are not real and Vrbo does not support the customer. We paid for a 2 baths and got 1. The furniture was not useable. Broken, springs popping out of sofa, mattress toppers instead of mattresses. So sad this company has fallen so far down. Never again.

I have never been so mistreated by a company. Host canx out trip 1 week before . VRBO refunded out money without any help from the customer service team . I have called for 3 weeks now and they gave me £800 extra to put to a new hotel . I have paid nearly £900 to and sent them the receipt . I still not have been reimbursed. This has caused me stress financial distress and ruined my holiday . I have emailed continuously with no response .
I’m now going to get legal advice and contact the media .

I'm disappointed that I'm here writing…

I'm disappointed that I'm here writing a poor review about a business we have used many times and travelled with quite extensively.

Quite what they've done to the login process is beyond me. It's convoluted and completely unnecessary, this was a travel site, not a bank. I want ease especially when I'm travelling. Please get this sorted otherwise I won;t be using you again.
