The page lists various tiers for players to support, with the lowest option netting you a digital copy of the documentary and other digital rewards for $49, while the second lowest will nab you a physical Blu-ray for $119 and your name in the credits. There is also a big box version available for those who pledge $250 or more, as well as t-shirts, pins, and other collectibles.
If you want to take a closer look at the rewards, you can do so here. Discounts are available for those who back within the first 48 hours of the campaign being live.
Original Story [Fri 17th May, 2024 14:00 BST]: Sierra On-Line co-founder Ken Williams has revealed that a new documentary is being produced that will chart the history of the famous company, which gave us titles like King’s Quest, Space Quest, Quest for Glory, Leisure Suit Larry, Gabriel Knight and Police Quest.
Legends of Adventure is being produced by the same team that created the Prime Video docuseries Gamebreakers and award-winning game studio MidBoss, and will focus on the amazing contributions made by Sierra founders Ken and Roberta Williams.
The documentary will also include interviews with other key people in the Sierra story, including Al Lowe, Lori Ann Cole and Corey Cole.
In a post on Twitter, Ken Williams explained that the husband and wife team had previously turned down offers to be involved in any documentary:
A while back, we were approached by some filmmakers who were interested in producing a documentary about the adventure game genre, but more specifically, the story of myself, Roberta and Sierra On-Line.
We refused.
Sierra On-Line's story is an amazing one, and it deserves to be told. However, we've been down this road before, on a couple other documentary projects, and nothing ever happened with either of them.
One of the producers on the project, Cade Peterson, is a friend of a friend, and is himself in the game industry. Cade kept pushing, after our refusal, and ultimately convinced us his team would deliver.
The Sierra story is the thing great movies are made of. There’s highs, lows, good guys and bad guys, and so we are excited to finally see it told in this documentary format.
Last week we did the first interview for the documentary. It was a long grueling day. The documentary folk dug in deep and captured some incredible footage. I had thought we might be done, but there's a lot more to cover. We’re delighted to see that some of our beloved Sierra creators like Al Lowe and Lori and Corey Cole are part of the project too… with many more to come, we’re told!
You can sign up for updates on the project here.
Here's some PR:
You grew up with the amazing stories and incredible games they created – now experience the behind-the-scenes story of Sierra On-Line as told by the people who created those iconic games and a video game renaissance.
From the team behind the Prime Video docuseries Gamebreakers and award-winning game studio MidBoss, Legends of Adventure is the new feature documentary about video game pioneers Ken and Roberta Williams, the unlikely team of designers and storytellers at Sierra On-Line, and the rise of the adventure game genre.
Legends of Adventure is the inside story behind your favorite Sierra game franchises – including King’s Quest, Space Quest, Quest for Glory, Leisure Suit Larry, Gabriel Knight, Police Quest, Phantasmagoria, and more – with all-new insights and never-before-heard stories from the creators of these classic titles!

It’s good the Williams’ finally found a project they are comfortable with, and it looks like things are well underway.
I look forward to seeing the results!
I wonder if there will be new info. A lot of the story has been covered before. But, there are always nuggets that haven't been given publicly. Looking forward to see what this comes out to be.
NGL, I thought that old guy on the left was Jimmy Greaves scrolling past!
Backed this without hesitation. While I do hope there is new info, it'll be fun to have a single documentary with all of the history together. A lot of it that i've seen is broken up in various interviews, or covered by retro community outtakes, etc.
Secretly hoping it'll end with the announcement of a new project they've already started on. Now that Ken's gotten his leg back after Colossal Cave, I'm hoping the next project will have a little more technical chops to it. He was well known for pushing the tech with the early games. I doubt he'll be on the bleeding edge like before. That just takes too much of a large investment and usually a large team. I get the feeling that's not what he wants to do again.
These guys make me think of Og and Karen from Ready Player One
Consider watching carefully the video, especially at 0:45. Can you notice the professionalism of the pc game salesman ? His outfit, his attitude... Back in the days, this added (imo) charisma to your local gaming store.
Really sad Jordan Owen didn't get to make this documentary due to political attacks.
