Building a browser for automotive. alternatives, challenges and recommendatio...Igalia
By Juan José Sánchez Penas.
Automotive web browsers have specific needs, compared to other platforms such as mobile, STB/TV or desktop. When building your own web browser (or by extension your web platform middleware) many different aspects need to be taken into account in order to define the right technologies to be used, the architecture, and a good strategy regarding the collaboration with open source projects and communities. In this talk we will review all those aspects, focusing specifically in WebKit and Chromium/Blink, the two main technologies that are being used to build and derive browsers and web platforms. We will review the alternatives, describe the main challenges and risks, and give wide set of recommendations based on years of experience developing and helping companies and associations to develop this kind of projects.

Build once deploy everywhere using the telerik platformAspenware
The Telerik Platform is a suite of tools for developing, testing, deploying and analyzing hybrid mobile applications. Hybrid mobile applications are most commonly built using PhoneGap, which interprets HTML5/CSS3/JavaScript and compiles it into a package that can be delivered in the app stores. PhoneGap also utilizes Apache Cordova JavaScript APIs to access certain native mobile features of the device. The Telerik Platform uses AppBuilder to abstract the complexity of PhoneGap/Cordova and provides a more intuitive way to build hybrid mobile applications. If you are looking to expand your .NET and web based development skills into the mobile market this is the session for you.
Lessons learned:
-What a hybrid mobile apps can do

However, there are still ongoing discussions around issues like video formats and concerns about privacy controls as HTML5 enables new ways of tracking users.
PhoneGap (aka Cordova) is a cross-platform framework for developing mobile apps using standard web development tools like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Join Troy Miles to learn how to create mobile apps with PhoneGap by building a simple but full-featured app during this hands-on class. Troy explores PhoneGap’s important capabilities, including GPS, camera, and audio recordings. Because JavaScript has a reputation as a somewhat difficult language, Troy teaches techniques for keeping your code robust and clean. To give your app the appropriate look and feel for the device on which it is running, the class will use the open source Chocolate Chip UI framework for testing. Troy shares ways to debug the code by running it as a web app, using browser development tools, or as a phone app, using the Chrome browser’s remote debugging features. Leave with the basics you need to start building your own cross-platform mobile apps.
