I create Minecraft Forge. Which, thanks to all of you in the community, is the largest modding API for Minecraft. It is open source, and free for everyone. However, the cost to run Forge is not free.
We have the server maintenance costs, as well as back end developers and the like. I also do Forge as my full time job. So there is rent, and bills to pay. Currently, the vast majority of revenue for Forge is created through ad services such as Google Adsense, and Adfocus. I try to keep these services as curated as possible, so things don't intrude on the user, and there are no age-inappropriate ads. However nobody, not even me, likes ads. As as a possible alternative, I have decided to promote my Patreon.
