Hey guys, I need a bit of feedback. Do you prefer the darker, greener grass, or a more bright greenish-yellow? I've been experimenting with textures and colormaps because I'm not quite sure which way I want the foliage to go. I tried out applying a sort of bluer green to the grass like I have on the blue swamp flowers (the bushes) but it turned out too noisy for my tastes, and a bit minty-ugly.
I redid the grass, the tall grass, and made some small adjustments to the base and colors of some of the flowers. I think I'm very close to something I like, and it looks wonderful in natural landscapes! The old grass looked a bit too soft and something like felt, so I made it a bit swirly, increased the contrast, and altered the patterns. Mipmapping and Optifine's Natural Materials settings help a lot (first is self-explanatory, second randomly rotates block textures to remove patterns. It looks fine without it, but Natural Materials makes it look even better!)
Next up are the tall plants, and then probably water if I can get animation down properly.
Didn't realize my last post didn't go up, so let's try again.
This is the result when you apply 1.8's texture rotation to my grass! I love the patterns it makes!
Also, we have mint-chocolate cake and some redone mossy cobblestone now. I intend for the cake to have a JSON 3d mesh later, which is why the shadowing on the top is a bit odd.
I love this pack, and i want to use it for my daily minecraft needs if possible, also you should add Japanese cherry trees, i've always wanted to build with them!

I tried cherry trees before the asian satinwood, but the red was honestly even worse than the birch.
Also, the pack isn't even remotely done yet, but I suppose I can throw up the current .ZIP onto my dropbox. Give me a minute or two.
EDIT: There we go, all done. There's a link in the OP now.
Behold, the Neapolitan House! Inside the great short-lived king Neapolitan lived, before he was caught and killed for his awful taste in architecture.
(Also, dark oak logs and a redone wood planks! It looks somewhat less round now, more flat. The satinwood logs are a little rounder too, though not pictured,)
I built a couple structures with the blocks, and I'm fairly happy with the way the colors work. I might revisit the colors of the nether brick though, so they fit better with some other things.
Also, I made the iron bars and the ladders (not pictured), but the bars are buggy in a couple places and will probably change.
how did you start your pack? I want to know so i can make my own!
Slowly, with a lot of previous ones. I've created about an entire texture pack's worth of other smaller incomplete packs, with a bunch of different themes and styles. I only ever released one of them, and I stopped working on it a while after. I kept looking for something I liked.
A good tip is to not work too much on the pack every day, or else you burn out.
It also requires a bit of skill as a pixel artist. I've been making pixel art for years now.

what software? and is there a website where i can get the original pack to edit?

Paint.NET is excellent and free, and fairly easy to understand. It isn't very powerful though, and pretty much only suits pixel art or basic photo manipulation. I'd love to get Photoshop, but it's unreasonably expensive and torrents are hard to find (and illegal!)
As for the pack, try Resource Pack Workbench. It's also an amazing management tool, and can label textures as PROJECT or UNCHANGED.
sweet! I have Photoshop, But Ill probably use paint.net! Thanks for the help! Btw Your texture pack is an inspiration to us all! (to many exclamation points lol)
I'm a pixel artist who makes pixel things and maps! I also do line art occasionally.
I have two work in progress resource packs!
This is the second one!
And of course, by "work-in-progress" I mean "will never, ever be completed".
Well it took me forever to get back to work on this, didn't it?
I decided eventually to try to change the color schemes a little bit, the foliage colormaps are a bit different. I also worked on the flowers!
What do you guys think, especially of the blue flowers? I'm considering going back over and redoing the grass with that kind of color/style.

One last update today! The chests were bland, weren't they?
The reinforced outside...
The hammerspace inside...
And the evil trapped chest. There's no physical difference outside, so it can be easily used for decoration or so it can be hidden better.
I'd still like some feedback on the grass!

Who likes wool and copyrighted map components that I'm bad at recreating?
