Case Manager, Darnisia Idelburg, was proud to present at The Network: Advocating Against Domestic Violence’s launch of its “Intersections Project” on June 24 at the Metropolitan Peace Academy. This initiative seeks to address the intersection between domestic violence (DV) and community violence intervention (CVI) with the assumption that DV could be reduced through partnerships between DV organizations and CVI outreach programs. The Network, an organization dedicated to improving the lives of those impacted by gender-based violence, will provide training and technical assistance to organizations in their planning and implementation. Darnisia presented on our collaborative work with Sarah's Inn to coordinate responses to survivors.

On June 20th we celebrated the latest Metropolitan Peace Academy graduating cohort of street outreach, case management, victim services, and the Crisis Prevention & Response Unit. 106 graduates walked the stage at the South Shore Cultural Center--6 from the Institute for Nonviolence Chicago. Choose Peace this holiday weekend. The 4th of July is typically a dangerous weekend for gun violence. While most of the city enjoys time off with family and friends, our street outreach workers, FLIP Peacekeepers, and victim advocates are still hard at work canvassing the community and mediating conflicts to help keep the peace and everyone safe.
