Digital Producer

WBTW News 13 is looking for a Digital Producer ready to take their skills to the next level in a newsroom that fosters growth and development. WBTW News 13, Myrtle Beach/Florence, is a CBS Affiliate Station owned by Nexstar Media Inc. The Digital Producer produces, reports, shoots, writes, edits and feeds news production content specifically for digital and social media platforms in a manner that is clear, engaging and meaningful to wbtw.com and our mobile apps. This position requires some holidays and weekends.

WBTW is located in Myrtle Beach, SC., which is known for its warm weather, friendly people, and over 60 miles of beautiful beaches on the Grand Strand. Being one of the top tourist destinations in the U.S., we have amenities you won’t find anywhere else—1,900 restaurants, over 80 golf courses, tourist and entertainment sites, water recreation and dozens of local and state parks.

• Assists in the development in helping the Digital Team with winning strategy for station content
• Expert understanding of Facebook, Twitter, and other social media platforms
• Reviews copy and will correct errors in content, grammar, and punctuation, following prescribed editorial style and formatting guidelines
• Use our Social Media and Website to build and reinforce brand recognition and drive viewers to television
• Determines a story's emphasis, length, and format, and organizes material accordingly
• Research and analyze background information related to news stories in order to be able to provide complete and accurate information
• Receives assignments and evaluates leads and tips to develop story ideas
• Gathers information about events through research, interviews, experience or attendance at political, news, sports, artistic, social or other functions
• Pitches on-brand local and trending stories during morning meetings
• Pitches stories to news managers and news producers which are relevant to the local community
• Checks reference materials such as books, news files or public records to obtain relevant facts
• Shoots and edits content for on-air and digital
• Produces reports for all platforms
• Copyedit TV Reporters content for Digital platforms
• Ensures that all content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality
• Builds and calendars digital campaigns to promote local shows and specials.
• Writes stories for the web and other digital platforms
• Performs other duties as assigned
• Finds new ways to use Social Media and our website to engage with viewers
  
  

Requirements & Skills:

• Degree in journalism; daily newspaper or news site experience required; live, working web samples and/or print pages preferred
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written with the ability to ad lib when required
• Maintain positive work environment through active team participation and cooperation with co-workers in all departments
• Responds positively to feedback
• Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Basic experience with Photoshop
