Design Engineer

Aquinas Consulting is currently looking to fill a Design Engineer in Fairfield County, CT. This direct hire job is available with one of our clients in the consumer products industry. In this role, you will be responsible for designing new products and editing legacy products. To be successful in this position, you must have a background in design engineering using SolidWorks and preferably with injection molding or plastics.

Design Engineer Job Responsibilities:

• Advanced knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes including injection molding, extrusions, and assembly operations is required.
• Candidates must demonstrate the ability to create new products, solve problems, generate ideas, and innovate.
• Expert-level skills in 3D modeling and drawing designs using SolidWorks is required.
• Project management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize projects and stay organized must be demonstrated.
• The capability to perform engineering analyses and tolerance analysis is required, knowledge and experience with FEA is a plus.
• Experience utilizing a stage gate product development process is preferred.
• Prior experience in patent review and the patent process is preferred.

Qualifications:

• We require a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• A minimum of four years’ experience designing and developing products, with an emphasis on plastic components from conception through to commercialization are required.
• At least four years experience as part of a cross-functional (marketing, operations, quality assurance, and engineering) teams are required.
