Summary

This position provides loads and dynamics analysis support to NASA human space flight programs, including the International Space Station, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, Space Launch System, Commercial Crew Program, Gateway, Human Landing System, and Lunar Surface Mobility. You will perform linear/nonlinear analysis and testing of structural loads and dynamics involving aerospace systems. This position requires experience in loads and dynamics analysis with emphasis on space vehicles.

In addition to the Basic Education Requirement (in the Education section below), to qualify for this position you must meet the requirements below. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. NASA utilizes OPM-approved qualification and rating requirements specific for Aerospace Technology (AST) positions which recognizes NASA's unique aerospace work. The specific qualifications and minimum education requirements are further described below and within the education section of the job announcement. To qualify for GS-12, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level: Working on a team to support engineering analysis and testing tasks in the area of structural loads and dynamics, such as finite element modeling (FEM); model reduction and component mode synthesis; linear and nonlinear structural dynamics analysis; flight/ground testing and analysis; model validation, correlation, and refinement; integrated analysis cycles; coupled loads analysis; and/or and numerical analysis; Performing spacecraft design, testing, qualification, and certification; and Working with numerical programming languages, such as Python, MATLAB, and C. To qualify for GS-13, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level: Leading or performing engineering analysis and testing tasks in the area of structural loads and dynamics, such as finite element modeling (FEM); model reduction and component mode synthesis; linear and nonlinear structural dynamics analysis; flight/ground testing and analysis; model validation, correlation, and refinement; integrated analysis cycles; coupled loads analysis; and/or and numerical analysis; Serving as a technical expert in spacecraft design, testing, qualification, and certification; and Performing numerical programming in languages, such as Python, MATLAB, FORTRAN, and C.
