ICYMI: WSP is teaming up with the Wisconsin Motor Carriers Association this week for the annual Trooper in a Truck enforcement campaign. It's part of the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance's Operation Safe Driver Week. The enforcement and educational campaign targets unsafe driving behaviors across North America to combat the number of deaths and injuries from crashes. From the higher vantage point of a semi-tractor or bus, WSP officers will keep an eye out for illegal activities such as speeding, distracted driving, following too closely, and seat belt violations. Once an officer spots a violation from the truck cab, they will radio to patrol cars in the area for appropriate enforcement action.

Please help us congratulate Master Trooper Splinter on his retirement following 26 years of dedicated service! A graduate of the 48th Recruit Class, Trooper Splinter accepted an inspector assignment to the Kenosha SWEF before transferring to a trooper position in Sauk, Columbia and, most recently, Adams County. During his career, Trooper Splinter served as a field training officer, civil disturbance instructor, Speedmeter technician, and DOJ certified handgun, rifle and shotgun instructor. As a result of his professional and decisive actions throughout the years, Trooper Splinter has been recognized by the Wisconsin State Patrol with multiple lifesaving awards. Thank you, Master Trooper Splinter, and we wish you the best as you begin a new chapter!
