The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PADEP) announced that the federal MCLs for PFAS compounds HFPO-DA, HFPO-DA Ammonium Salt, PFBS, PFHxS, PFNA, PFOS, and PFOA were established as Pennsylvania Statewide Health Standard Medium-Specific Concentration (MSC) values for groundwater effective on June 25, 2024. To read the PADEP's new PFAS MSCs statement, follow this link: https://ow.ly/rJZV50SwU0z. The next step will be updating the soils MSCs which will also be the PA Clean Fill Standards. Colleen Costello, Stephen Zemba, and Russell Abell, PG, LSP spoke at Pennsylvania Chemical Industry Council’s (PCIC) PFAS Workshop on June 11, 2024. The Workshop included a wide range of PFAS topics relating to the scientific and regulatory aspects of PFAS in groundwater, surface water, soil and air on both a federal and state level in Pennsylvania. The workshop also covered the treatment, destruction and disposal of PFAS.
