“You’re worth more than you believe.”   Sound advice from our humble, industrious and multi-faceted intern Sean Elder, who graduated from Western University this month.     Growing up as part of the COVID generation was a weird time. Schools were constantly saying they were reopening, then closing, then changing course altogether. It left a lot of uncertainty about what the world was going to look like when he entered the workforce.   Fast forward just a couple years, and Sean has been a huge contribution to so many aspects of our organization. From Marketing to Project Management to Design, he leads with a can-do attitude and a humble yet assured demeanor that we sincerely admire about him.     Best of luck Sean, as you start another 16month sprint to earn your MSC. We appreciate you. You’re worth more than you believe.

Back in the saddle and pumped to share some insights from NeoCon, LG&P design leads John and Emilie spent the week of June 10th exploring commercial trends, materials and patterns.   Big Takeaways:   NeoCon was abound with stunning architectural installations, material innovations and custom finishes that make any designers jaw drop. The show was rich with “Sensory Materials” that resonate with character, warmth and organic authenticity. - Extreme Eco-friendliness materials flooded NeoCon, with a focus on recycled materials, reusable and ethically harvested substrates, and carbon-offset products. - Feeling the felt. Charming, acoustical, and visually complex, felts made a stand in the architectural and furniture space, especially as the world grasps with creating acoustical flex environments in a variety of home, home-office, and office environments. - Neo Art Deco, revisited. Both tonally and architecturally, a modernized trend of geometric shapes, colors and patterns create an emotional continuity reminiscent of the Art Deco era.  - Subtle, Organic Tonal patterns. Mod honeycomb, infused resins and 3-dimensional panels bring warmth, character, and eco-friendliness to the forefront. - Greys be gone. Warm Woods and Organic textures reign. Warmer tones of Blues, Greens, Browns, Cremes, and Whites provide a welcome contrast to the sterile black & white aesthetic that occupied design inspiration this past decade Sherwin-Williams - Complex finishes: such as patinated brasses, bronzes, and nickels compliment more character rich hardware. More ornate, less sterile. - Residential and Commercial designs are blending. Office environments are more warm, welcoming and home-like.   Look for many of these design cues to start appearing en masse in the residential design & fashion markets, and ultimately our space as well. This month, our very own Tricia Kerr brought home the GOLD (longest drive) at the Center for Hope and Safety Annual Golf Classic! We’re super proud of this organization, the real-life impact it has on our community, and to Bergen County victims of domestic violence. In 2023, CHS sheltered 362 individuals (adults & children) across its emergency and transitional housing programs, served 343 adults & children through its non-residential Community Services program, and provided FREE legal services to 371 individuals on over 801 legal matters. It’s an absolute privilege to participate in this golf tournament and to raise money for this very special organization.
