The recently published 2024 Thales Cloud Security Study provides an in-depth look at the current state of cloud security, highlighting key challenges, emerging trends, and strategic priorities. Here are some of the most prominent results from the study. Enterprises Use Two or More Cloud Providers: One of the most significant findings from the Thales study is the increasing complexity of cloud environments. With enterprises using an average of 2.02 cloud providers, managing security across multiple platforms becomes a daunting task. This complexity is further exacerbated by the unique security requirements of each cloud provider. 44% Respondents Have Experienced a Cloud Breach: The study reveals that human factors play a substantial role in cloud security breaches. A striking 44% of respondents reported experiencing a cloud data breach, with 31% attributing the root cause to misconfiguration or human error. Another major challenge highlighted is the low adoption of data encryption. Despite 47% of cloud data being classified as sensitive, less than 10% of enterprises have encrypted 80% or more of their data. Increased Investment in Cloud Security: Investment in cloud security is on the rise, with 33% of respondents prioritizing it as their top security spending category. However, there remains a disconnect between stated priorities and actual implementation. Encouragingly, 53% of organizations have implemented a formal security champions program, highlighting a growing recognition of the need to embed security within development and operations. 65% Respondents Identify Sovereignty as a Burning Issue: Digital sovereignty emerges as a critical concern for enterprises, driven by the need to future-proof cloud resources. The ability to control digital assets independently of location and service provider is seen as paramount, with 65% of respondents identifying it as a current concern and 72% as a future concern. This highlights the need for solutions that ensure data portability and compliance with global privacy frameworks. The HTCD Cloud Security SaaS offers solutions to the concerns identified in this study. Our single-pane-of-glass view simplifies observability across multi-cloud environments. HTCD’s AI-first approach also boosts analyst productivity and allows clients to run detections using simple English rather than complex query languages. Furthermore, we ensure 100% data sovereignty and don’t ingest any of our clients’ data. Visit our website (link in bio) to find out how you can leverage our AI-first cloud security SaaS for just 99c. A recent report by Lucidworks sheds light on the significant concerns and considerations surrounding generative AI adoption. The report covers critical areas such as data security, implementation costs, and practical utility. Here are the five biggest takeaways: 1. Measured Spending on Generative AI: Organizations are becoming more cautious with their AI investments, ensuring that each dollar spent is justified by tangible benefits. 2. Deployment Delays Affecting Returns: Delays in the deployment of AI technologies have slowed the anticipated returns on investment, prompting a revaluation of implementation strategies. 3. High Implementation Costs: Concerns over the cost of implementing generative AI solutions have grown, with organizations particularly concerned with the increased expenditure from greater volumes and stringent accuracy requirements. 4. Practicality and Utility Drive Adoption: The adoption of generative AI is increasingly driven by its practical applications and utility, such as governance and cost optimization, ensuring that solutions are both relevant and effective. 5. Long-Term Investment Over Immediate Wins: Industry leaders are focusing on long-term success with AI, prioritizing sustainable growth and innovation over short-term gains. At HTCD, we have prioritized data security and privacy since our inception. Our core ecosystem is designed to ensure that customer data remains within their environment, mitigating risks associated with data breaches and unauthorized access. We understand the apprehensions around sending data to proprietary large language models (LLMs). That's why we offer a flexible ecosystem that allows you to integrate your own deployed LLMs while still leveraging our robust data security framework. All that’s required to integrate your self-hosted LLM with HTCD is its base URL and key. From an engineering standpoint, we've recognized that fine-tuning LLMs can be cost-prohibitive for startups. To address this, we have innovated by developing micro auxiliary LLMs. These are smaller, specialized models that are carefully prompted for specific tasks, enhancing efficiency and reducing costs. Additionally, we've implemented parallel processing whenever possible, further optimizing performance and scalability. IDK if it’s *always* sunny in Philadelphia, but it’s *always* about the Expo at events like Amazon Web Services (AWS) #reinforce2024 . Why? … 1. We spend such a large portion of our professional lives working together online (esp. post COVID) — that we rarely meet up. I finally had a chance to catch up with the #secops man, myth, and sh!tposter Jonathan Rau! Yes, of course we joked about devs using AI vs learning PySpark, he tried to shill me some queries, and… 2. If you attend many events consistently, you see trends come into play and cycles be born, boom, and fade. Over the years I’ve seen the rise of UEBA, Training & Awareness, CSPM, CIEM, DSPM, etc. Recently at GISEC, RSA, and now ReInforce — the #security #datalake is real and BIG. Monolithic SIEMs are dying. I’m inclined to agree with Torq’s claim at their booth of “SOAR is dead” and I’m thrilled to see HTCD leads in AI-First detection engineering, #NLQ to #SQL and more for security. 3. Say what you will about “platformization” started by Nikesh and Palo Alto Networks but that set the trend. Fortinet’s intent to acquire Lacework , Wiz’s release of their CDR capability and the powerful showing by CrowdStrike and others showed our industry is fast growing, evolving, and there WILL be acquisitions — fast and furious throughout 2024. 4. I was today years old when I learned how unique of an ISV HTCD is. Unlike other EDR, MDR, XDR, … products, it’s focused isn’t to compete with ANY native service (or leading third-party EDRs etc.). Nor is there a lock in like certain SIEMs, SOARs or CNAPPs. It simply enables AWS (and other CSP, Data Lake) customers to bring out the very best of AWS’s awesome native services at no extra cost to you. Well no — I mean, it costs 99c/month 🙃. A huge shoutout to allies like Brian Leedy, Ryan Orsi, Brian Mendenhall and others for leading the charge on how #AWS puts partners first! 5. Conference turnout (attendees) was healthy, alive, and well. Especially in a week that also featured conferences by Databricks and others!

A huge shoutout and thank you to Carol Potts , Richard Hyde, Sean Blakley, Peter Kjeldgaard and others from our partners at Amazon Web Services (AWS) for their amazing hospitality at last night’s #reinforce2024 CxO event for ISVs and follow-on event. The HTCD team and I feel wonderful to not only know, but see and experience firsthand how #AWS remains truly customer obsessed, and continues to be partner-first. Appreciate our #partnership in helping AWS’ customers maximize their value from AWS’ native #security services, and enhance their detection & response capabilities.
