We congratulate Governor Whitmer on the Renewables Ready Communities Program and the impact it will have in spurring the deployment of more Michigan-made clean energy and bringing substantial benefits to low-income and disadvantaged communities. This ambitious investment of $129.1 million in Climate Pollution Reduction Grant funds made available by the Inflation Reduction Act will help build a clean energy future for Michigan. It also aligns with the goals of DTE Energy, as the largest developer and operator of renewable energy in Michigan. DTE aims to generate approximately 18,200 megawatts of renewable energy by 2042, which will be more than 60% of DTE’s energy mix and the equivalent of powering 5 million homes. The company has six new solar parks under construction across Michigan and is actively working with elected leaders across the state to plan additional parks that will benefit their communities with tax revenues, jobs and local spending.
