Cheil New York announced today that Alex Davis, previously VP of Growth & Alliances at Dentsu Creative, has been named Managing Director effective immediately. Davis will be based in Cheil North America’s regional headquarters and assumes the role of Managing Director for the local New York Account and Brand teams.
“We took a bit of time to make sure we found the right individual for this important role, and I’m so pleased to have Alex join us,” said Mitchell Yoo, CEO, Cheil New York. “It is more important than ever to be growth-minded in today’s modern marketing, whether for our current client relationships or new. I’m looking forward to seeing Alex helping our New York based team in expanding its portfolio as his track record has demonstrated.”
“This is a really exciting time to be in agency new business & growth because the landscape has evolved and playing field has changed over the past decade,” says Davis. “Smaller-mid “cool indie” shops are now being invited to participate in large agency reviews which, in the past, were reserved for the bigger holding companies, and the “hold co.’s” have begun to adopt a small agency “hunter” mentality engaging in aggressive prospecting and marketing activities to make sure their pipeline is full at all times.”
“I’ve had the unique opportunity to work for some amazing agencies both big and small and I’m excited to bring my learnings from both experiences to Cheil as new hybrid approach to growth & new business; one that combines the ability to get a seat at the big agency review table, with the smaller agency prospecting activities needed to maintain a robust pipeline of opportunities.”
Davis comes to Cheil New York after ten years of leading client growth marketing for global agency networks such as Dentsu and Havas Tonic, winning opportunities with Nestle Health, Paramount, Celebrity Cruises, L’Oréal, Bowflex Inc., SunnyD, Michael J Fox Foundation, LA Homeless Initiative, among others. He also established a hybrid new business process which focused on bringing in both short term project work and long-term AOR opportunities.
