#50in50: AO’s logo has evolved through several dynamic transformations since its original design was created by founders Jack Selman and Lee Stearns, inspired by Lee's childhood rubber stamps from the 1960s. In 1974, AO's first office opened in the Barger Building in Old Towne Orange. The office entrance was moved from Chapman Avenue to Orange Street and a large hand was painted on the wall to guide visitors to the new front door. As the firm evolved, the joining of the four hands came to represent the original AO team: Jack, Lee, Jerry Kasparek, and Big Al. The logo was refined over the years, with a new triangular and circular design introduced by Eric Gardner in the mid-1980s. This version remained until a redesign in 2019 for AO's 45th anniversary. Today, as we celebrate our 50th anniversary, we proudly display our current logo, a testament to our rich history and forward-looking vision. #AO50 #WeAreAO #BetterTogether

#InTheNews: Check out the latest issue of the San Diego Business Journal, featuring an interview with AO Partner Bruce Greenfield, who discusses how the Element Mission Valley hotel will be a favored addition to its existing Marriott Hotel site. The issue highlights another AO regional project, The Keaton, an innovative multifamily development that will provide over 250 units to the area. These projects showcase the diverse and impactful work our team is proud to bring to life. We are excited to see both projects completed and are grateful for the strong relationships we have with our partners R.D. Olson Construction, Inc. and Protea Properties who make these achievements possible. ! #50in50: It's 1977 and Architects Orange has just celebrated a milestone — the completion of the Woodbridge Pines Apartments, the first official contract with the Irvine Company, with a design fee of $46,000! Back then, rents ranged from $300 to $500 per month. This 220-unit townhome project laid the groundwork for our enduring partnership that still thrives today. Our collaboration has flourished over the decades, dynamically shaping and transforming communities across northern and southern California. Take a look at the original 1977 photograph by photographer Julius Schulman alongside a recent shot of Woodbridge Pines. Here's to nearly half a century of innovation, partnership, and progress! #AO50 #BetterTogether #TheIrvineCompany #Partnership #Irvine #AOmultifamily
