🎉 Happy National Intern Day! 🎉 A huge shoutout to our amazing partners at KPMG US! All Stars Project is thrilled to celebrate the incredible journey of high school interns in the KPMG Empower High School Experience as they explore the world of accounting and professional services! ASP is energized and excited after our recent virtual sessions! We delivered a dynamic workshop presentation as part of an introductory session for the KPMG Empower High School Internship Program’s mentors. Mentors are key in supporting the program! We transform the lives of youth and poor communities using the developmental power of performance.
About us
The All Stars Project is changing the national dialogue about how to meaningfully impact the lives of people growing up and living in poverty, and the role that "outside-of-school" plays in preparing inner-city youth for success in their lives. At All Stars, inner-city youth participate in hip-hop talent shows, leadership training in partnership with the business community, an internationally award-winning police-community relations program, and more. We have transformed our unique, community-based and grassroots programs, founded in NYC in 1981, into a growing movement reaching 20,000 inner-city youth and families each year in 6 cities. We have become one of the country's leading Afterschool Development organizations, creating a new national model that uses performance as our approach to helping kids and their families grow on and off the stage, and bridge-building through volunteer and direct partnership initiatives between our generous supporters, their families, and the youth of All Stars. 🌟 Exciting News! 🌟 The All Stars team is thrilled to announce our collaboration with KPMG US on the Empower High School Experience this summer. This internship introduces high school students to exciting fields like public accounting and professional services as they start their career journey. Interns engage with KPMG mentors, gain career insights and immerse themselves in a professional environment. On June 5, 2024, All Stars’ Shadae McDaniel, Craig Pattison and Jessica Montalvo led KPMG Empower high school summer intern coaches and staff leaders in ‘The Building Blocks to Bridge Building and Belonging!’ training at the Lakehouse KPMG campus in Orlando, Florida. This program has grown to include 15 cities and 250 interns, and we are so proud to become part of KPMG’s growing program. Through All Stars Project’s ‘development through performance’ approach, we focused on building relationships and creating a summer of unparalleled growth. It was a high-energy, high-participation session that encouraged everyone to expand their worldview, take risks, and support one another with listening, curiosity, and vulnerability. 👏 Congratulations to everyone involved in this inspiring program #YouthDevelopment #Internship #ProfessionalGrowth #KPMG #EmpowerHighSchoolExperience

🌟 The All Stars Project is proud of our thriving partnership with ICA Cristo Rey Academy in the San Francisco Bay Area. Together, we're creating a model for how educational institutions can advance workforce development initiatives using All Stars' performance-based programs and methodology. 🌟 On July 8th, at the freshman orientation, our ASP staff co-facilitated the MAPS session, incorporating improvisation and other activities. Through our development-through-performance methodology, students grew beyond their comfort zones, embraced mistakes, and performed curiosity, carrying these skills into school and their corporate work-study jobs! 👏 Congratulations to everyone participating in this exciting initiative where everyone involved is learning and growing. #YouthDevelopment #AllStarsProject #WorkforceDevelopment #Education

Enjoyed recently teaching a class of All Stars Project, Inc. interns about financial literacy. As a member of this great organization's board, it is a pleasure to support its mission any way that I can. It was fun and rewarding to review key concepts--like “net worth” and “cash flow “and other ways to be financially smart--with this group of NYC inner-city youth who are just starting out in the working world. All the best to them and thanks to All Stars for this experience!

Soaking in the thought leadership environment at Aspen Ideas Festival. Glad to be representing the All Stars Project, Inc., and opening up new conversations. Two panel highlights so far “What’s Missing in the Lives of America’s Young People?” moderated by Dan Porterfield, with Kaya Henderson and Vivek Murthy. A clarion call to solve the youth mental health crisis in America with “belonging, purpose and service.” Proud that All Stars has been leading with development through performance for three decades, to achieve these outcomes, and we now have a chance to create partnerships and share resources to expand impact. Fantastic discussion on “Is America due for a Third Founding?” with Sherrilyn Ifill, NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc. and Jeffrey Rosen, National Constitution Center. Many other powerful panels and conversations. More to come! 🚀 Last week, the All Stars Project team hosted our latest "Operation Conversation: Cops & Kids: Creating Conversations" workshop. With players and staff from the New York Jets, officers from Newark Department of Public Safety and New York City Police Department and youth from NYC and NJ, we gathered at the Jets' Florham Park training facility for a transformative performance workshop. 🤝 Through listening and curiosity, we built new relationships and deepened our understanding of one another. Afterward, the Jets hosted a dinner where conversations continued, fostering even stronger connections. 🌟 The positive feedback was overwhelming! Officers and youth shared their challenges, community responsibilities, and the significance of their roles. New bonds were formed, paving the way for lasting change. #AllStarsProject #OperationConversation #CommunityEngagement #NYJets #PoliceYouthRelations
