Last week, our team at #AdventistHealthSonora was honored to bless the site of the future Labyrinth Peace Garden at the Health Pavilion and Diana J. White Cancer Institute. Made possible by generous gifts from Betty and H. Randolph Holder and Adventist Health Sonora's Hospice Patient Support Fund, the garden will serve as an area for prayer, meditation and healing open to patients, staff and the community. Labyrinths are an ancient style of meandering path that have been used as part of religious practice and spiritual pilgrimage for centuries. The ceremony also included a groundbreaking by #AdventistHealth leadership and representatives from Teter, Inc. and Solomon's Gardens Nursery & Landscape, who will be working on construction of the garden this summer and fall. We look forward to seeing this beautiful new space come to life for our community!

Welcome to the fam! To say that we’re excited to see these smiling faces is an understatement! We recently welcomed this new group of nursing graduates to our family at Adventist Health Ukiah Valley and Howard Memorial as part of our new RN residency program. These 19 nurses will begin their year of learning and working alongside our teams as they begin the transition from new nurse graduates to becoming a professional nurse. Our seasoned preceptors and entire team will be there to guide them through this time, and make sure they have all the support they need as they get familiar with our hospital, their departments and our culture. What’s even more amazing and exciting is that many of them are familiar faces to us because they have been part of our family and have grown in their careers with us. And we are proud to support them as they continue growing! Many of them we already know and love also, because they've spent time training at our facility as they were going through nursing school. Many of them will be spending their residency in Ukiah while some will be at our sister facility at Howard. Some of them are also part of our nursing float pool. Our nursing float pool will spend time learning at both campuses, so they get to know our teams and facilities and will be able to fill in gaps in staffing as needed. We couldn't be more excited to have them on board and part of our family and were even more excited to see the difference they will make caring for our patients. Congratulations and welcome to our family to: Back row, left to the right: Jaclyn, Daniel, Sandi, Keith, Joseph, Matthew Polk, Melyssa, Madison, and Justine. Front row, left to right: Alma, Berenice, Jessica, Marisol, Bailey, Sierra, Brianne, Mazie, Carley, Gracie and Alicia. Thank you for choosing a career caring for others and thank you for choosing us! ——- Want to learn more about our New Nurse Residency program and be part of an awesome team? Reach out to me and I can connect you to Jolee White or Hope Rebecca!

We're building on the incredible heritage of our two newest hospitals on the Central Coast and already working to expand services for San Luis Obispo County. That's why we wanted to celebrate Adventist Health Sierra Vista, Adventist Health Twin Cities, their imaging centers and clinics with two special events in June where had the opportunity to recognize how much more we're going to accomplish together. Thank you to each staff member, provider and neighbor who joined us to look forward to a bright future for local healthcare! #AdventistHealthSierraVista #AdventistHealthTwinCities

Congratulations to the team at Adventist Health Howard Memorial!
I am excited to recognize Adventist Health Howard Memorial for receiving the Overall Hospital Quality Five-Star Rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the highest possible rating a hospital can achieve. This amazing achievement is one that is owned by our entire team and wouldn’t be possible without all of their incredible work, and commitment to patient-centered care. Every team member plays a part in this incredible acknowledgement and award, and their commitment to excellence is truly inspiring. We are here for our patients and community to provide the best quality care possible to each person who walks through our doors. According to CMS, the Overall Star Rating summarizes a variety of measures across five areas of quality into a single star rating for each hospital. The measures include Mortality, Safety, Readmission, Patient Experience and Timely & Effective Care. Each hospital has a star rating that ranges from one to five stars, with five stars signifying the highest quality. Of the 4,600 hospitals evaluated by CMS, Adventist Health Howard Memorial is one of only two hospitals in the Northern California area to achieve this five-star rating. Only 10% of hospitals nationwide have earned five stars. I am so proud of our team for all their work as a critical access hospital to achieve this rating and are grateful to our community for trusting us with your care.

Please help us welcome our first cohort of family medicine residents to Adventist Health Sonora!
I was thrilled to welcome our first cohort of family medicine residents to Sonora today! A first in our region, Adventist Health Sonora is now home to an accredited graduate medical education program. The Hanford Sonora Family Medicine Residency Rural Training Track provides resident physicians with comprehensive training and guidance from experts with real-world experience in rural healthcare. Having completed the first year of their training in Hanford, our residents will now spend the next two years caring for patients and receiving specialized training in inpatient and outpatient settings throughout our organization. I am excited about their growth as physicians and about the ways this program will improve healthcare in our community for years to come! Pictured with me here are Matthew Personius, MD, Associate Residency Program Director; Alem Abraha, MD; Stephanie Sanders, DO; Robert Verghese, MD; Jeremiah O’Connor, DO; and Carlene Maggio, Residency Program Coordinator.
