This is one of those cards I had to see a video of WTF it's supposed to do: Reading the text, I thought it was some big board removal where you would apply the pieces of bread to each side of an opponent's board and squish them into a sandwich you could then play. Instead it's an ordered occurrence where you need to equip a 7 cost weapon, and THEN sandwich minions in your own hand?
... That's not very good.
I'm just thinking that we could play this turn 7 and then play Standardized Pack to get 5 taunt minions on turn 8 between the slices and summon 5 minions in turn 8 or maybe 6 minions if you just draw one. Maybe it is silly but it is a lot of value.
You're playing (and holding in hand) standardized pack (a very bad card) on the off-chance you can:
z) get to 7 mana against druid.../s (or not)
a) draw and play the weapon (a singelton in the deck)
b) not get the weapon destroyed on your opponents next turn
c) have enough hand room to get 5 cards from the pack and still have one space left for the bread (hoping that you didn't just draw a key battlecry minion who will end up in the sandwich)
d) get good enough, non-battlecry taunt minions to make all of this worthwhile
Nice in theory - almost certainly terrible i practice.
I think this looks pretty terrible, but maybe it could see play in some janky Taunt, Blackrock-n-roll deck. The challenge for a card like this is always going to be consistency - it's probably going to feature in some massive high-rolls but on balance wont be very good. The deathrattle nature of the second slice of bread is also problematic. Issues I see with this card:
a) you're not using another weapon - you paid 7 mana for 4 damage - on turn 7. You're not even getting the payoff the next turn, so you're probably not using another weapon for a number of turns. Maybe you should just use the 7 mana to put a minion into play...
b) the opponent can finish your sandwich by destroing your weapon. Bread sandwiches all round!
c) you cant really run battlecry minions or else you might lose the possibility of using them.
d) it's a dead earlygame and dead lategame draw.
I think your right, the only type of deck I can really see this in is a taunt heavy one. And I don't think that will be a thing or at least I hope not a taunt heavy meta deck would just feel bad to go up against for most players.
You pay 7 mana and then you have to wait for the cards to stack up, making you unable to use other weapons.
Another issue is getting minions that have play value and not stat value, making the wait even longer.
You either die before a good sandwich or after you opponent just clears the board with one card and you have 0 tempo.
its too expensive in everything but warrior.
Good point. Most say automatically "too expensive", but warrior takes forever to play.
too much mana game is over nowadays this turn
'One double Boulderfist Ogre sandwich coming right up'
Draw Boom or Brann before trigger deathrattle = concede.
Use Brann before equip= sandwich without cards = concede.
Thx for garbage card design
It looks more like a card you build a deck around and it could work, if you just throw it in any deck it’s not going to do well
This looks better in hunter with big dinos and Mukla cause you could ress them with Stranglethorn Heart and tutor this with the Secret. But if you draw minions before playing it, its almost pointless to build the deck around this. I'm actually surprised that they didn't make the first slice go to the left side of hand
They could eventually implement that change if it sees no play. I’m more wondering about the randomly generated Ryecleavers that aren’t played. Imagine having one slice of bread that you can never get rid of because someone plays Blingtron and you randomly got this without the battlecry! Do you add a line of text to the second slice to discard at end of turn so it’s not a dead card if it has nothing to merge with?
Granted that would be pretty rare. More likely scenario is someone swings and breaks the weapon when their hand is full. But that’s on them! They deserve the one dead slice then! LOL
Well, for 5 (or even 6) mana it might catch attention.
For 7 seems too expensive.
But we'l see ofc, maybe some clever combo.
Add this to the list of reasons why I love Hearthstone’s card text for flashy effects. Time to make Subway Warrior a thing!
I think it's a bit too niche, you'll very often sit with this in hand without a good opportunity to play it. If you have a turn where you're not pressured, is it better to prime this or play something else? Will you have such a turn in enough matchups? Is stealing a board impactful enough to warrant the downsides?
Isn’t 7 mana a bit expensive for a 4 attack weapon?
Setting this up is not straightforward because you can’t simply keep it in your hand and it will slide to the left. Once you equip it, the sandwich slice will be added to the right and any minions to the left of it will not be considered.
So, to reliably set this up, you’d need discover post equipping it. Something like Standardized Pack will give you a wall of taunts. Funny enough you can use Repackaged Box to summon your minions back.
Unless something beats out Highlander I doubt we see this in play. Its pretty random what cards your getting and it sucks after Brann is played.
Tbh this weapon might be better for classes that can reliably draw high cost cards easily like Druid for example. But too me its to expensive and too unreliable to become a thing.
You obviously wouldn't play this in a deck with Brann because you don't want to cheat out battlecry minions including Brann in the first place
