Super Mario Odyssey Power Moon locations - how to find and collect Moons in Odyssey's many Kingdoms

Where to find those all-important Moons in Super Mario Odyssey.

Power Moon locations are probably going to be the most important thing you'll look for in playing through Super Mario Odyssey.

They drive progression as you unlock one Kingdom to the next, and will be the main motivator to return and replay areas - with many more unlocking after a first visit, and once you have finished the story.

Below is a contents list of all our Kingdom-specific guides to how and where to find Power Moons around the game's many Kingdoms.

Super Mario Odyssey Power Moon locations - how to find and collect Moons

Power Moons are the real 'stars' of Super Mario Odyssey. Part collectable, part currency and the most important resource you'll need to collect in order to make your way through the story objectives and reach the final showdown with Bowser. There's no fixed number of Moons per world - it depends on how big and simple/complicated the kingdom is - but you're going to need plenty of time to find them.

There are also Moons in another post-world Kingdom, which we've yet to detail in this guide - but it's such a delight it's worth exploring yourself spoiler free.

Need more help? Our Super Mario Odyssey guide and walkthrough goes through every objective in each Kingdom, while our Power Moon locations can help you track down the likes of Cascade Kingdom Power Moons, Sand Kingdom Power Moons, Metro Kingdom and New Donk City Power Moons and more collectables. We also have Purple Coin locations for each Kingdom, and if you want to know what to spend it on, we have a hats list, outfits list, stickers list, a souvenirs list as well as a music list to kit out the appearance of both Mario and the Odyssey. Once you've finished the game, check out the free Balloon World update, too.

What else you need to know about Power Moon locations

There are over 550 standard Power Moons in the game, and each kingdom will have a minimum number of Power Moons required to reach each new kingdom. Thankfully, it's usually not very many and lots of these collectibles are in easy to find locations.

Some are well hidden, including behind special hat doors (that lead to mini-games) and mini rockets (which lead to special bonus stages). It's worth noting these locations usually have a hidden Moon to find - so don't leave until you find it.

Another thing worth noting is Power Moons tend to unlock in waves. Upon a first visit is a set amount you can grab, and sometimes once you have completed certain story objectives - such as New Donk City's opening and the Sand and Snow Kingdoms - more will appear. Without spoiling too much, but completing the game will unlock even more, too.

Oh, and reach 250 Power Moons and 500 Power Moons and you'll unlock some bonus challenges, too.

Long story short - your first play through a Kingdom is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of Moons you can collect. Keep returning until you get them all!
