PS5 games list: All confirmed launch, exclusive and first-party PS5 games explained
Everything we currently know about the game lineup for the PlayStation 5.
With the announcement of the PS5 and its release around Christmas 2020, we're now in the position of wondering what we'll find ourselves playing on release and beyond.
Though there are only a handful of confirmed PS5 games so far - many which also appear on the Xbox Series X games list - we already have a good early idea of what is coming to Sony's new console.
As with our PS5 specs, the backwards compatibility of the PS5, PS5 console design, PS5 SSD Drive and PS5 controller summaries, on this page you'll find everything we know so far about PS5 games - from confirmed launch titles to those likely coming to the PS5 at some point.

All first-party PS5 games confirmed so far
Here are the first-party games - which have been made by Sony's own studios - coming to PS5, and in some cases, PS4 as well:
New God of War - the next instalment in the God of War series, which has yet to be named, will be coming in 2021 and, from the title, we can only assume that the fall of Valhalla will come into play during the game.
Horizon Forbidden West - Set in a far-future America, Guerrilla returns for this Horizon sequel coming to PS5 and PS4 in 2021.
Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales - The next chapter in Insomniac's Spider-Man series focuses on Miles Morales in a game like Uncharted: The Lost Legacy in scope, and launches holiday 2020 with a PS4 version.
Gran Turismo 7 - The next numbered sequel from Polyphony Digital reintroduces the GT Simulation Mode and supports haptic feedback and 3D audio. It has yet to be given a release date.
Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart - Developed by Insomniac Games, the next Ratchet and Clank makes use of the DualSense controller for enhanced feedback.
Demon's Souls - A remake of the PS3 From Software adventure comes from a collaboration between Bluepoint Studios and Japan Studio, and will be a PS5 launch title.
Returnal - A new action game from Resogun studio Housemarque.
Sackboy: A Big Adventure - Developed by LittleBigPlanet 3 studio Sumo Digital, this is a 3D platformer "with a deeply immersive and expressive control scheme" and the option to play solo or with friends. Coming to PS5 at launch, as well as PS4.
Astro's Playroom - Coming pre-loaded on PS5, this introduces players to the DualSense controller as they guide Astro Bot through four worlds based on the PS5's console components.
Destruction AllStars - Developed by Lucid and XDEV, this launch game blends car and on-foot combat in a huge, vibrant arena. Originally scheduled as a PS5 launch game, it will now make its debut in February as a free PlayStation Plus title for two months.
All exclusive third-party PS5 games confirmed so far
Here are third-party games - including those which are timed console exclusives, and or are coming to PC - announced for the PS5:
Final Fantasy XVI - A new Final Fantasy adventure will be arriving on the PS5 as a console exclusive, as well as PC - and possibly Xbox down the line.
Deathloop - Announced at Bethesda's E3 2019 conference, this Arkane Leon project sees two assassins locked in a time loop. Coming to PC and PS5 as a timed console exclusive in Q2 2020.
Ghostwire: Tokyo - Revealed in E3 2019 at Bethesda's press conference, the June PS5 reveal event showcased first footage of the Shinji Mikami-led Tango Gameworks project. It's coming to PC and as console exclusive on PS5 in 2021.
Godfall - a fantasy role-playing game focused around third-person melee combat and hunting down loot. Developed by Counterplay and published by Gearbox, it's due out in late 2020.
Project Athia - Developed by Luminous Productions within the Square Enix - the team behind Final Fantasy XV - this is an action game "designed exclusively for PS5".
All third-party PS5 games confirmed so far
Below you'll find all the other games coming to PS5 which are coming to other platforms as well - whether it's PC, the Xbox Series X or last gen consoles such as the PS4.
Tribes of Midgard - This co-op survival role-playing game allows you to work together with up to 9 others as you collect resources and complete challenges. Coming to PC and PS5 sometime in 2021.
Doctor Who: Edge of Reality - This reimagining of VR game Edge of Time is coming to current gen consoles and PC in Spring 2021, while the BBC has said to "stay tuned for... next-gen console support":
Hogwarts Legacy - Releasing in 2021, this game will take you on a whole new adventure in the Wizarding World, separate from the the Harry Potter series, as you enter Hogwarts in the late 1800s as a student who holds the key to an ancient secret.
Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition - Coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X / S - but not PC - this introduces Vergil as a playable character, as well as the Legendary Dark Knight mode, Turbo Mode (20 per cent gameplay speed increase) and support for ray-tracing.
Five Nights At Freddy's: Security Breach - the next instalment in the Five Nights At Freddy's series will be available on the PS5, though the release date is currently unknown.
Immortals Fenyx Rising - Formally Gods and Monsters, this Ubisoft open-world action platformer is coming to PC, current and next-gen consoles on December 3rd, 2020.
Riders Republic - this new extreme sports franchise from Ubisoft featuring bikes, boards, skis and wingsuits is coming to PC, current and next-gen consoles.
RIDE 4 - The next game in the two-wheel racing series will see next-gen versions on January 21st, 2021, after a current-gen and PC release on October 8th, 2020.
Graven - This spiritual successor to Hexen 2 is developed by Slipgate Ironworks and co-published by 3D Realms and 1C Entertainment, and is coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch and PC in 2021.
Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga - The next Star Wars Lego will land in spring 2021 and be available on PS5, PS4, Switch, Xbox One and Xbox Series X.
Poker Club - From Ripstone Games and billed as "the most immersive poker simulation ever made", this is coming to PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PC and Switch in 2020.
Vigor - A free-to-play shooter already available on Xbox, this is coming to Switch, PS4 and PS5 in 2020.
White Shadows - This stylised black-and-white platformer will feature a story "that is dark yet funny, gripping and relevant to players' lives today", and is coming to PC, Xbox Series X and PS5 in 2021.
Little Nightmares 2 - The horror sequel from Tarsier Studios will become available for both the PS5 and Xbox Series X on February 11th 2021, with a free next-gen upgrade for anyone who's already purchased the game.
Dragon Age 4 - We can't expect to see the next instalment in the Dragon Age series till 2022, but we do know that it be available on the PS5 and Xbox Series X.
Bridge Constructor: The Walking Dead - Coming to PS5, PS4, Switch, PC, Xbox Series X and Xbox One in 2020, this game sees you constructing bridges to escape the zombine hordes.
Unknown 9: Awakening - From Reflector Studios, this game is yet to receive an announcement date. The debut trailer follows a young Indian girl with supernatural powers.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War - The latest in the Call of Duty series will be avaliable on the PS5, with the option of a next-gen upgrade available for those buy it for the current generation, though any related fees still need to be confirmed. It will be released in holiday 2020.
Nour: Play with your Food - Published by Panic, this is "an interactive exploration into the aesthetics of food" coming to PS5, PC and Mac.
Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 - Coming to Xbox One, Series X and Switch on December 8th (as well as PS4, PS5 before the end of 2020, and PC in 2021), the Puyo Puyo Tetris sequel will support a free next-gen upgrade between PS4 and PS5.
Gotham Knights - This new Batman story, playable either solo or in two-player, follows Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood and Robin protect Gotham in the wake of Batman's death, and is coming to PC, current and next-gen consoles in 2021.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League - A continuation of Rocksteady's Arkham universe, this is set in an open-world Metropolis and can be played solo or up to four players, and is coming to PS5, Xbox Series X and PC in 2022.
Braid: Anniversary Edition - A remastered version of the Xbox Live Arcade game will have redrawn visuals and developer commentary when it launches on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, Switch and PC in 2021.
TemTem - The creature collecting multiplayer game, currently in early access on PC, will make its console debut on PS5 on December 8th, and will also come to Xbox Series X and Switch sometime in 2021.
Hood: Outlaws and Legends - Coming to PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One and PC in 2021, this is a PC, PvPvE multiplayer game from Sumo Newcastle, the team behind Eve: Valkyrie that Sumo Digital picked up from Eve Online maker CCP back in 2018.
The Pedestrian - A 2.5D puzzle platformer, which has you explore through signs in the world, is coming to PS4 and PS5.
The Pathless - The next game from the creator of Abzu is a "mythic adventure game about an archer and an eagle in a vast forest" coming to PS5.
Guilty Gear Strive - The next entry in the Arc System Works fighting series is coming to PS5 as well as PC and PS4 in Spring 2021.
Overcooked: All You Can Eat - A compilation of the first two Overcooked games is coming to next-gen consoles, complete with cross-play, 4K and 60fps performance.
People Can Fly AAA project - People Can Fly, the team behind Bulletstorm, has its New York studio working on "a highly ambitious, groundbreaking action-adventure title that takes PCF's nearly two decades of development expertise in a new direction" for next-gen consoles. The team is scaling up over the next year or two, so don't expect this to release anytime soon.
Earthlock 2 - The sequel to the Snowcastle Games adventure inspired by 90s JRPGs returns to Umbra, a planet where half the world is in darkness and the other in sunlight, and will launch on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One and PC.
Balan Wonderworld - An action platformer from Sonic creator Yuji Naka and Square Enix studio Balan Company sees "memories and vistas from the real-world mix with the things that people hold dear", and is coming to Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, Switch and PC in Spring 2021.
Yakuza - Like a Dragon - Coming to PS4, Xbox One and Windows 10 at launch, next-gen versions will be available, with an Xbox Series X edition arriving alongside the console's launch. The PS5 edition, meanwhile, arrives March 2nd, 2021, and won't support cross-generation save support.
PES - The 2021 PES game is being designed for PS5 and Xbox Series X, with the series' tech moving to Unreal Engine and an estimated release in the latter half of the year.
Far Cry 6 - Coming to current, next-gen consoles and PC on February 18th, 2021, this open-world sequel features Breaking Bad and The Mandalorian's Giancarlo Esposito as its antagonist Anton Castillo, a brutal dictator who rules over the game's Cuban-influenced setting.
Watch Dogs: Legion - Launching first on current-gen consoles and PC on October 29th, there will be a next-gen version when new consoles arrive.
Marvel's Avengers - Following the release of the Square Enix adventure on PS4 and Xbox One on September 4th, there will be a free next-gen upgrade, which includes the transfer of game progress, same-generation crossplay, and performance improvements, including "extremely fast load times, boosted resolution and fidelity" and more.
Steelrising - From GreedFall and The Technomacer studio Spiders is an action game involving "King Louis XVI's automata army terrorising the citizens of Paris", and is coming to PC and next-gen consoles.
Heavenly Bodies - This space-based physics exploration game for PC, PS4 and PS5 will be enhanced with DualSense thanks to adaptive trigger and haptic feedback support.
Maquette - a "first-person recursive puzzle game that takes you into a world where every building, plant, and object are simultaneously tiny and staggeringly huge", according to the official blurb, for both PS4 and PS5.
Recompile - This Metroidvania-style platformer sees you play a virus infiltrating a facility. Coming to PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X.
Haven - From Furi developer The Game Bakers comes Haven, a "love story of a couple trying to stay together" as they explore a deserted planet, for Xbox Series X, Xbox One, Switch, PS4, PS5 and PC.
Worms Rumble - This is a real time version of the classic Team17 franchise, offering cross platform multiplayer with the PC and PS4 versions, a well as a battle royale mode.
New projects from EA studios Dice, Motive and Criterion - The long-anticipated sequel from BioWare has been teased for next-gen consoles, as part of a wider glimpse for what EA is working on for new consoles during EA Play 2020. This includes a new project from Motive, Dice (likely Battlefield) and Criterion (likely Need for Speed).
FIFA 21 - this game is the next entry in the annual EA sport franchise, offering "blazing fast load times, deferred lighting and rendering, enhanced animation technology, off-ball humanisation, and more". Purchases on PS4 will see a free upgrade to PS5 (though physical on PS4 to PS5 digital is not possible), along with most game progress.
Madden 21 - this game is the next entry in the annual EA sport franchise. You will also be able to purchase this game for the PS4.
Cyberpunk 2077 - Due out in November on PS4, Xbox One and PC, there will be a patch at launch with light next gen improvements, followed by a more substantial one later to make better use of the enhanced hardware. For PS4 owners, the PS5 version for free as part of the same purchase.
Planet Coaster: Console Edition - Frontier is releasing Planet Coaster on next-gen consoles as well as PS4 and Xbox One when the park simulation game releases in late 2020.
Quantum Error - A cosmic-horror first-person shooter from TeamKill Media coming to PS4 and PS5 in 2021.
Cris Tales - Described as "a love letter to classic JRPGs", this 2D drawn adventure has you use the past, present and future to shape the world around you.
Resident Evil Village - Also known as the eighth title in the series, this keeps the first-person perspective of Resident Evil 7 and launches in 2021.
Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One: Developer Frogwares returns with an origin story for the famous detective, this time moving away from Victorian London to a Mediterranean-inspired island. Coming 2021.
Dustborn - A storied, single-player action adventure from Dreamfall Chapters and Draugen Red Thread Games coming 2021.
Pragmata - A mysterious new game from Capcom coming to PS5 in 2022.
Little Devil Inside - Developed by Neostream, this is an action adventure with survival elements in an "atmospheric, semi-open world".
NBA 2K21 - The next instalment in the basketball series from 2K Sports is coming Fall 2020.
Solar Ash - Revealed in early 2019 as the next game from Hyper Light Drifter developer Heart Machine, Solar Ash is coming to PS5 in 2021 in collaboration with Annapurna.
BugSnax - As the name suggests, the next game from Octodad developer Young Horses brings you an island where its inhabitants are half-bugs, half-snacks. Coming November 10 2020 to PS4, PS5 and PC, and will be a free PS Plus game for PS5 owners from November until January 4th, 2021.
Kena - Bridge of Spirits - A story-driven adventure game created by Ember Lab - a team with a background in film and animation - where players "find and grow a team of charming spirit companions called the Rot, enhancing their abilities and creating new ways to manipulate the environment".
Goodbye Volcano High - An animated adventure from GNOG studio Ko_Op coming to both PS4, PS5 and PC in 2021.
Oddworld Soulstorm - The long-awaited next installment in the Oddworld series from Oddworld Inhabitants got its first gameplay debut at the PS5 reveal event in June.
Stray - An adventure game from Annapurna and Bluetwelve coming in 2021 on PC and PS4 and PS5 as a limited time console exclusive.
Jett: The Far Shore is coming Holiday 2020 to PS4 and PS5 from Superbrothers and Pine Scented. Revealed in a mysterious but captivating first trailer at the June PS5 reveal event, you must "carve out a future for a people haunted by oblivion and propelled by dreams".
Hitman 3 - IO Interactive sees Agent 47 return for the "most intimate and professional contract" of his career in the conclusion of the 'World of Assassination' trilogy. It's releasing January 2021 on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and PC.
Chorus - this story driven, single-player space shooter is being published by Deep Silver. It will also be available on PS4.
Metal: Hellsinger - Developers by The Outsiders (the studio co-founded by former Battlefield 3 lead designer and Payday 2 director David Goldfarb), Metal: Hellsinger is a rhythm FPS that's coming to PC, Xbox One, PS4, and next-gen consoles in 2021.
Chivalry 2 - Coming to PC, current generation and next generation consoles, this will support full cross-play between all platforms.
Paradise Lost - an "emotion driven mystery" from Polyamorous Games about a boy exploring a bunker in a post-war landscape. Also coming to Xbox Series X and PC.
Dirt 5 - the latest addition to the long-running rally driving series from Codemasters. This game is also coming to PS4.
Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 is a sequel to a fan-favourite published by Paradox. It offers Smart Delivery support with the Xbox One version, and is coming 2021.
Assassin's Creed Valhalla - The latest entry in Ubisoft's long-running series, which is teased to reshape the series' brand of RPG storytelling, is available on November 17th. This game is also coming to PS4.
Observer: System Redux - A next-gen remaster of Bloober Team's 2017 science-fiction horror game, due out for release in 2020.
The Lord of the Rings: Gollum - this game will follow Gollum's adventures, as the evil influence of the One Ring and the remnants of Sméagol battle for his mind. Developed by Daedalic Entertainment, it will be released in 2021 and it was first revealed in the February 2020 edition of Edge.
Outriders is a one-to-three player co-operative shooter created by Bulletstorm studio People Can Fly, set for release by the end of 2020.
WRC 9 from Kylotonn will be coming to new consoles after debuting on PS4, Xbox One and PC in September.
Which existing current-gen games will be enhanced on PlayStation 5?
As well as the above new releases and backwards compatibility of PS4 games, a number of existing games will come to PlayStation 5 with additional enhancements. Though not confirmed in every case, expect some of these to receive upgrades for free.
- No Man's Sky - The space survival game offers "fuller worlds", 32 player multiplayer on a console, 4K 60FPS performance and cross play as part of a free inter-generational upgrade for existing players.
- God of War - Santa Monica's God of War 2018 reboot will run up to 60 frames per second through the game's 'Favor Performance' mode as part of backwards compatibility on PS5.
- Ghost of Tsushima - The first-party PS4 adventure from Sucker Punch will see a performance boost through backwards compatibility of up to 60 frames per second.
- Mortal Kombat 11 - A free next-gen upgrade will arrive with the Ultimate update on November 17th, offering "4K dynamic resolution, enhanced visuals, improved loading times and more".
- Borderlands 3 - The Xbox Series X and PS5 versions will support saves from the previous generation - as well as offering 60fps and 4K performance in single player and the addition of four-player local split-screen co-op.
- Maneater - The open-water, action shark game will offer 4K and 60 FPS and ray-tracing support as part of a free upgrade at the launch of next-gen systems.
- Rainbow Six Seige - owners of the game on PS4 and Xbox One will get a free next-gen upgrade which runs up to 120 frames per second and 4K resolution.
- The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Next-gen features - including ray tracing and faster loading times - will be coming to PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X as a free update to owners of the game on current platforms.
- Dead By Daylight - A next-gen version with improved visuals, 4K and 60 FPS performance will be coming to next-gen consoles as a free upgrade for current owners in 2020.
- The Elder Scrolls Online - Bethesda is working on back compatible support for when next-gen consoles launch, and also a specific PS5 version of The Elder Scrolls Online, which will be offered as a free upgrade when available.
- Doom Eternal - Bethesda is working on back compatible support for when next-gen consoles launch, and also a specific PS5 version of Doom Eternal, which will be offered as a free upgrade when available.
- Control - A next-gen version of Control will be available for owners of the Ultimate Edition. If you already own the base game, you don't have access to the upgraded edition - though it is still playable with PS5 backwards compatibility.
- GTA 5 - A next-gen version of GTA 5 and GTA Online will offer "a range of technical improvements, visual upgrades and performance enhancements" when it launches in the second half of 2021. On PS5, a standalone version of GTA Online will be free exclusively during the first three months of release.
- Destiny 2 - The free-to-play shooter from Bungie will support 60FPS and 4K when it releases on next-gen consoles. Purchases from the PS4 version will carry over to the PlayStation 5 version for free, and it'll be possible to play with PS4 players through intergenerational crossplay. No date for the PS5 version has been set. Until then, the new expansion, Beyond Light, launches in September:
- Fortnite - Though Epic has yet to reveal how Fortnite will be improved on next-gen consoles, it's confirmed to be available at launch running on Unreal Engine 4.25 before transitioning to Unreal Engine 5 sometime in 2021.
- Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege will have a next-gen version, which will have cross-generation multiplayer. "For example, PlayStation 5 players can play with PlayStation 4 players, and Xbox Series X players can play with Xbox One players," creative director Leroy Athanassoff explained.
- Warframe was announced as branching out to next-gen consoles in a financial report by Leyou Technologies.
Meanwhile, Eurogamer sources have confirmed any game submitted for certification for the PlayStation 4 from mid-July onwards must also be compatible with the PlayStation 5.
This only affects the games that are being tested for release and not the ones actually being released in July - but even still, expect the above list to grow.

Unconfirmed, but likely, PS5 games
Currently we don't know much about the upcoming games for the PS5, since there are a lot of titles that still need to be confirmed. We can, however, make some good guesses about what we believe will be appearing on the PS5.
These games include:
- Elder Scrolls 6 is definitely going to appear on the PS5. The only question is - when? For now you can enjoy our educated Elder Scrolls 6 location predictions.
- Starfield, Bethesda's space-based role-playing adventure, is still a few years away, making it a next gen game.
