Cockfight

From Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A cockfight in London

A cockfight is a blood sport between two or more roosters that is held inside a cockpit. The combatants, called gamecocks, are specially bred birds. Cockfights are called blood sports by animal welfare and animal rights groups due to trauma inflicted between the roosters. The sport originated in the Indus Valley civilization of ancient Pakistan and was a popular sport in many civilizations of the ancient times.[1] It is illegal in the United States (and a felony in thirty States).
