After years of dedicated work, we’re excited to share a milestone: the first refurbished battery from our Skövde plant. As the demand for Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) grows, reusing battery resources is crucial. Our refurbished Cube batteries, backed by a two-year warranty, offer a sustainable solution for BEV customers. They ensure continued performance, reduced costs, and significant reduction of CO2 emissions compared with using a new battery.
Celebration time! Our joint venture together with Westport Fuel Systems for the HPDI technology in internal combustion engines is officially up and running! We celebrated this special occasion in Vancouver, Canada, with invited customers, key stakeholders, and executives from both companies. This was also an opportunity to see a Volvo FH internal combustion engine pilot truck in action by a hydrogen refueling station. The HPDI fuel system technology is already available in Volvo’s gas-powered trucks and offers a great transition alternative for customer fleets to reduce their climate impact today. “With this joint venture, we want to speed up the commercialization and global adoption of the HPDI technology for OEM’s long-haul and off-road applications. I believe HPDI-powered internal combustion engines, running on hydrogen and renewable fuels, play a crucial role in global decarbonization efforts in commercial transportation,” says our CTO Lars Stenqvist.
Two thousand laps around the world! That’s how far our electric trucks in commercial traffic have traveled since 2019. From urban distribution and waste management to regional haul and construction, these trucks have reduced CO2 emissions and significantly improved the working environment for drivers. #electrictrucksinreality
To address the shortage of mechanics and electronics specialists in the Western Balkans, we are collaborating with Sida and Helvetas through the RECONOMY program. This initiative will provide vocational training focused on sustainable, environmentally friendly solutions and promote gender equality by integrating youth and women into the labor market. Through this project, young people in Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, and Serbia will gain essential skills to work with modern, green technologies in the heavy-duty and transport industries. By empowering the youth with high-quality training, we aim to foster economic development and drive the green transition in the region.

Our Chief Technology Officer Lars Stenqvist set out the future of sustainable transportation during a fireside chat at the Consumer Technology Association’s annual CEO Summit, held this year in Stockholm. Thanks to Gary Shapiro and Kinsey Fabrizio for inviting us to play a part in this exciting event. Well moderated by John Penney. The event was an great opportunity to meet with so many leaders across diverse sectors. Lars said: ”Partnerships are needed to amplify the transformation. We know this approach works. It requires and open minded and innovative way of cooperating across industry sectors – sometimes even with your competitors – to accelerate the pace of change.”
