Reservation Dogs is an Native American comedy series from Sterlin Harjo and Taika Waititi. It premiered on August 9, 2021 on FX on Hulu.

On September 2, 2021, it was announced that FX had renewed the series for a second season. It premiered on August 2, 2022.[1] A third and final season premiered on August 2, 2023 and concluded on September 27, 2023.

Synopsis[]

Reservation Dogs follow a group of four Native teenagers in rural Oklahoma who spend their days committing crime, as well as fighting it.

On December 22, 2020, it was announced "Reservation Dogs" has been handed a series order at FX. Harjo and Waititi co-wrote the pilot for Reservation Dogs, and Harjo directed. Harjo and Waititi executive produce with Garrett Basch.[2]

Casting[]

On December 22, 2020, D'Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai, Devery Jacobs, Paulina Alexis and Lane Factor were announced as the core cast of the series alongside guest stars for the pilot, include Tamara Podemski, Zahn McClarnon, Macon Blair, Kirk Fox, Matty Cardarople, Dallas Goldtooth, Lil Mike and Funnybone.[3]

The pilot was filmed in Okmulgee, Oklahoma.

  • The show’s writers room is made up entirely of Indigenous writers.[2]
  • The series is Waititi's second at FX, as he's also an exec producer of What We Do in the Shadows.[2]
