The account hasn't made any edits for a long time and, if you have lost your password, you can try to recover it by opening a task on phabricator, otherwise you should have a more certain proof that the account is actually yours. @JNB45: I'm sorry, but if you have no way of proving ownership of the account (such as an edit made with the old account indicating that the new account refers to the same person), we can't rename it. Hi @Ferien! I prefer to have access to this doppelgänger as I like to be able to access them for testing scripts and other MediaWiki features. I also prefer having my alts globalized (registered across wikis), but this one isn't on enwiki (my home wiki) yet. Finally, I also use my alts as the equivalent of a committed identity for backup reasons. Hope that clears it up, and apologies for any inconvenience or confusion! Comment I think that, in this case, the problem is that the user has relevant edits, such as page creations and major edits. They also linked their global user on enwiki less than a year ago, so I believe it is a relatively active user (this is not a problem, as they are notified of the request and can oppose the usurpation). • Yes, the user has some major edits and creations, but the latest one dates back to 2010. The last edit they did was on their userpage, so i guess the creatioms can be deemed old? Given the requests above, I proceed to put this request on hold. Btw, I kindly ask Vincent Vega and Jeff G. to better check the users' edits before accepting requests. It's essential to preserve the legal authorship of the contents and if a user has valid edits (especially on ns0), it's better to refuse the request.
