@Wikismart03: The requested username is already registered, see Special:CentralAuth/Wikismart. Please pick a new name. —k6ka 🍁 (Talk · Contributions) 01:51, 6 November 2016 (UTC)
Hello @K6ka: thank so much you for your attention. I do have another simplified username in mind. However, before preceding with that one, is there a way to check when this user (Wikismart) last logged in? According to what I found, this user's last edit was in 2007 [1] and only has 19 edits. If this user has abandon his Wikipedia account or has not contributed for years, would it be posible to request a usurp? Wikismart03 (talk) 04:00, 6 November 2016 (UTC)
@Wikismart03: There's no known way (to my knowledge) of checking when a user last logged in; however, we also look at the significance of the edits they made during their time as an editor. If they have made no edits, then that's easy, but if they have made edits we need to examine them. If the edits they made are significant, meaning that their edits weren't immediately reverted or are something we can't just ignore, then we can't usurp them. In this case, I do not think Wikismart can be usurped. However, if the user comes back and consents to the usurpation, we can go ahead regardless (But in this case that seems unlikely). —k6ka 🍁 (Talk · Contributions) 12:50, 6 November 2016 (UTC)
@K6ka: I understand, and I apologize if I seem too "pushy" on this matter. But I went ahead and followed the process as you mentioned. And in my attempt to make it as fair as possible, I checked every single one of the user's submissions. This is what I was able to conclude: The edits are only removals of 3 to 4 external links (sources), that were immediately added back again by the contributors of those articles. If you check the edit history of those articles concerning Wikismart they're just back and forth adding and removing links, which is what adds to his edit count. These edits were done for only 2 articles. You also mentioned that the edits need to be checked to see if they were ever reverted. I checked, the immediate edits after his were indeed reversing his changes. I'm not saying that verifying external links is not an important contribution, but they were reverted, nonetheless. I also want to point out that the user has not contributed to Wikipedia for the past 9 years.
I sincerely apologize for my insistence for this change. I'm just trying to get this done in the appropriate manner and as allowed. I promise I will oblige to your decision. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Wikismart03 (talk) 19:20, 6 November 2016 (UTC)
@Wikismart03: Don't forget that the user also made some talk page edits. Those can't be ignored either. —k6ka 🍁 (Talk · Contributions) 21:07, 6 November 2016 (UTC)
@K6ka: I understand. The only option I have left is to request the other username I had in mind. May I submit it here or do I need to create a new post? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Wikismart03 (talk) 22:39, 6 November 2016 (UTC)
@Wikismart03: Either option works fine. —k6ka 🍁 (Talk · Contributions) 22:50, 6 November 2016 (UTC)
@K6ka: In that case, I wish to change it to "Wiki-smart" (note the dash) [2]. Wikismart03 (talk) 23:26, 6 November 2016 (UTC)

@Alessio.aguirre: Sorry, we can't 1. Rename you without leaving redirects that link your old name to the new per the global rename policy, as you have a history of blocks; and 2. We can't remove this request or the log entries that record the rename; this request will be archived, but it still can't be eradicated completely. We can still rename you to "Alejandro.Aguilera89", but we can't remove the redirects or suppress the log entries. This is due to the fact that the requested name includes semicolon so the MediaWiki interprets it as a different Namespace. This is a software technical limitation (see Wikipedia:Naming conventions (technical restrictions)#Restrictions on usernames). You have to choose another name. masti <talk> 18:50, 10 November 2016 (UTC)

@Shirxd: Are you trying to usurp this username? If so, please notify the target user on their home wiki about this request and move it into the correct section. —k6ka 🍁 (Talk · Contributions) 21:12, 1 October 2016 (UTC)
@K6ka: No, I just want the username in any other wiki except the Hebrew one to be in English. A matter of visability and convenience. Shirxd (talk) 21:18, 1 October 2016 (UTC)
@Shirxd: Sorry, that's not possible, as renames are now global, meaning they take place on all Wikimedia wikis. It is not possible for a global account to have a local account of a different username, if that is what you were requesting.
If you own the account "שיר", then you may simply use that to edit that one wiki specifically (Depending on your local wiki's policy on using multiple accounts, you may or may not be allowed to do this; you will usually need to declare that you operate both accounts). You can also change your signature on that one wiki, which will not affect your username, but will affect your displayed name when editing talk pages. —k6ka 🍁 (Talk · Contributions) 21:24, 1 October 2016 (UTC)
Well, if so (and I'm late for Selichot), I'd like to change the name globally. The name "שיר" is not taken. Shirxd (talk) 21:29, 1 October 2016 (UTC)
@Shirxd: Sorry, I'm afraid "שיר" is taken, see sulutil:שיר; unless I'm seeing the characters incorrectly, it's the same name that you were trying to be renamed to. It has one edit on the Hebrew Wikipedia. That's why I asked initially. —k6ka 🍁 (Talk · Contributions) 21:32, 1 October 2016 (UTC)
@K6ka:, thanks for notifying me. If so, I would like to usurp the username שיר. should i move the discussion to the right section? Shirxd (talk) 22:46, 1 October 2016 (UTC)
@Shirxd: I've moved it for you. It looks like we can usurp this username. Please notify the target username on their home wiki talk page about this request, and allow up to a month for a response from them. If they consent, or if they don't say anything after the one-month grace period, we can complete your request. —k6ka 🍁 (Talk · Contributions) 22:50, 1 October 2016 (UTC)

Iridos~enwiki

@Iridos~enwiki and Iridos: Are you trying to merge these two accounts? Please note that it is currently not possible to merge accounts at this time. —k6ka 🍁 (Talk · Contributions) 16:14, 22 November 2016 (UTC)
Well, kind of. I only did 1 article edit with the "new Iridos" on en.wikipedia, before I noticed that it is not the same account. So that user could just be deleted and Iridos~enwiki renamed back to Iridos. If that is not possible, maybe renaming Iridos~enwiki → Iridos and Iridos → Iridos~inactive or swapping the names would be good. Iridos (talk) 16:39, 22 November 2016 (UTC)
Sorry for lack of context. The name "Iridos" was renamed on en.wikipedia when the nicks were unified, which created a new account "Iridos" on en.wikipedia and renamed my existing nick to Iridos~enwiki. I noticed yesterday when I wanted to move an article. I had done a single edit some weeks ago with the new account. Iridos (talk) 08:00, 23 November 2016 (UTC)
@Iridos~enwiki and Iridos: So you want to abandon Iridos, which has autoreview and editor user rights on dewiki, and nearly 4,000 edits clocked in for Iridos~enwiki which only has 170 edits? Wouldn't it be easier to just abandon Iridos~enwiki and leave a note on its userpage linking the account to Iridos? Regardless of what happens, you're still probably required to make mention on the userpages/user talk pages of the two accounts linking them together, or someone may accuse you of sockpuppetry (and we wouldn't want that). Also, as an important note, it is not possible to delete user accounts. —k6ka 🍁 (Talk · Contributions) 12:33, 23 November 2016 (UTC)
No, I thought in this case, a merge of the accounts would be trivial, because Iridos~enwiki only has edits on en.wikipedia, while Iridos has only edits outside en.wikipedia.
Are you saying that a rename on only a single project site (en.wikipedia) that would join everything into a truly unified account is also not a possible thing? Hmm, maybe I see some reasons why now. I had thought that in this case the general "merges are not possible" wouldn't apply, because of the strict separation between projects. If that is true, I guess I will just have to live with things how they are and you can close the issue here. Thank you. Iridos (talk) 13:41, 23 November 2016 (UTC)
@Iridos: Renames used to be done locally by local bureaucrats, but that screwed with the whole SUL system. Currently, renames are now done globally by global renamers and stewards, and the rename tool was removed from the bureaucrat toolset. The old local rename tool, IIRC, is still available to stewards, but it's not really used anymore. Using it to merge accounts is pretty messy. Also, Iridos has made two edits on the English Wikipedia already, so I imagine that to throw a monkey wrench into the works (Causing anomalies like killing server kittens, making it rain cats and dogs, disrupting the space-time continuum, etc.). With that being said, I'm marking this request as Not done. —k6ka 🍁 (Talk · Contributions) 16:01, 23 November 2016 (UTC)
