@Mhhossein: that username is unavailable, please request another. You can also utilise the form Special:GlobalRenameRequest which will only allow available usernames.  — billinghurst sDrewth 14:14, 16 June 2015 (UTC)
@Billinghurst: What do you mean by 'unavailable'? I checked the 'name' and no one had registered with this name. Mhhossein (talk) 17:11, 16 June 2015 (UTC)
@Mhhossein: The username is globally in use, see CA --Steinsplitter (talk) 17:24, 16 June 2015 (UTC)
@Mhhossein: The username seems registered in 2007 but never used [9]. Perhaps you could ask @Ladsgroup: if there is any way for you to take over the name. –xeno 19:37, 16 June 2015 (UTC)
Used is used, we are not in the old ways where usurping takes place due to another local use. We are in the system of global accounts, not solely localised accounts. Suggest that you simply pick an unused account name (via the means pointed out above) and we can get you moved.
Done please log out and then login with new user name Amir (talk) 07:06, 17 June 2015 (UTC)
@Ladsgroup: Thanks, but I want only the fa wikipedia account changed, as it appears from the manner I filled the request form. نان (talk) 13:10, 17 June 2015 (UTC)
@Steinsplitter: I never asked for changing my global account and I only wanted my fa wiki account changed, as it is apparent from the form. Tnx نان (talk) 13:32, 17 June 2015 (UTC)
@نان: it is no longer possible to rename accounts in a local way; all accounts are now global. I'm not sure if Stewards still have the ability to split up a global account or if they would on request. –xeno 14:24, 17 June 2015 (UTC)
We still have the bit but as a tool to fix potential issues. I'm not entirely sure of why this use wants the split, and I think some quite compelling reason would have to be provided. Snowolf How can I help? 14:35, 17 June 2015 (UTC)
@Snowolf: I aimed to have a short Persian user name for editing in fa.wikipedia. I liked the word نان and that's why I chose it. However, if it is not a compelling reason to locally change the user name, please restore my older user name globally. نان (talk) 05:38, 19 June 2015 (UTC)
Pinging:@Stryn and Steinsplitter: Please note! نان (talk) 13:31, 21 June 2015 (UTC)
Done, renamed back globally. --Stryn (talk) 13:41, 21 June 2015 (UTC)
@Stryn: So, It is not really possible to locally change the user name? Why?Mhhossein (talk) 13:47, 21 June 2015 (UTC)
Technically it's still possible, but it's very much recommended to have a global account including all your accounts. And I think that we don't have any policy to unmerge a local account from a global one. --Stryn (talk) 13:52, 21 June 2015 (UTC)

Rjk~enwiki@global

Unfortunately this is not possible. The name rjk belongs to another user, who actually has more edits than you, so usurpation has no prospect. Ruslik (talk) 19:18, 3 June 2015 (UTC)

EL~dewiki@global

I'd be inclined to grant the request - I've notified the en.wiki user of it and if no objections will proceed after some delay. –xeno 22:42, 2 June 2015 (UTC)
Why did the enwiki user get the name? Is that the way SUL clashes were supposed to be resolved? They only have one edit that was immediately reverted. I agree with Xeno, we should do this one? WJBscribe (talk) 18:59, 3 June 2015 (UTC)
They had edits on test wikipedia. I'm not sure if this was done during finalization, the user may have been able to secure the global account somehow because of (now deleted) test.wikipedia edits even though it appeared the requesting user had the best claim since some time. Since there was no objection from target user, request is Donexeno 19:49, 3 June 2015 (UTC)

Martinwguy@en.wikipedia.org

Stewards are unable to return the account to you. You would need to pursue such a request through Wikimedia Foundation, and initially through a phabricator: request, though you could seek advice through Stewards' noticeboard about the matter. We could merge these accounts to Martinwguy2 if you can login to each of the above accounts, and confirm them that they should be merged.

If you ever satisify WMF to assign the Martinwguy account to you, then we can merge usernames at that time.  — billinghurst sDrewth 03:36, 15 May 2015 (UTC)

Vorlage~dewiki@de.wikipedia

It is sitting in a subpage waiting for action. @Trijnstel:  — billinghurst sDrewth 12:56, 17 May 2015 (UTC)
I've just looked into these two global accounts and there's something that I don't understand: Special:CentralAuth/Vorlage~dewiki, Special:CentralAuth/Vorlage. I didn't notice by now that there is a new local account for User:Vorlage at dewiki since 25 April. That's quite strange, because there is no log entry in the user creation log for that. There are a few new local accounts now: for User:Vorlage „de.wikipedia.org, 19:47, 25 April 2015“ without log entry, and for User:Vorlage~dewiki login.wikimedia.org 19:47, 25 April 2015, meta.wikimedia.org 19:48, 25 April 2015, and en.wikipedia.org 19:57, 25 April 2015. User:Schwalbe told on 20:04, 25 April 2015 that he could login "and just tried successfully", but could not use the name ("Yes, the user is a legal "sockpuppet" of mine and I still can login and just tried successfully. But the user rename request form does not allow me to use the old name again. --Schwalbe (talk) 20:04, 25 April 2015"), I think that he must have created the local account de:Benutzer:Vorlage again with the old password of the renamed de:Benutzer:Vorlage~dewiki. Does this mean that the passwords of both global accounts are the same now? Or can it be that the local accounts of User:Vorlage in dewiki and dewiktionary have two different passwords? This seems to be strange, because the global user which owns the account de:wikt:Benutzer:Vorlage obviously was another one and has nothing to do with the dewiki account. Or has that account got the same password as the new local dewiki account and also the same as the renamed account? I've never seen such a thing before. Is it possible for renamed users to create new local accounts with their old names and that no log shows this user creation in any way? What has happened here and what will be done with this now? --Winternacht (talk) 18:21, 17 May 2015 (UTC)
The local account Vorlage on dewiki was created automatically when the user who owns the global account Vorlage logged-in and visited dewiki. Ruslik (talk) 19:35, 17 May 2015 (UTC)
As Ruslik says all we can fully say is that someone has the account name Vorlage and has successfully logged into it recently, and it is the global account; checkuser checks would tell more, though does not seem warranted. If the same person has the accounts across deWX sister wikis, they should request a merging of accounts here, with the requisite confirmatory edits from the accounts.  — billinghurst sDrewth 22:05, 17 May 2015 (UTC)
@Winternacht: did you find the person behind the accounts and do we need to do anything? If not, then we will close this request as not done, and wait for a request that will be confirmed.  — billinghurst sDrewth 12:38, 7 June 2015 (UTC)
The person who owns the renamed account Vorlage~dewiki@de.wikipedia is User:Schwalbe. It seemed to me that he also created the local account Vorlage@de.wikipedia by logging in with his old password (see above), because at the same time he wrote something here. He also requested on the subpage that the account should be renamed back. I don't understand the whole thing now. Has he now the rights to log into the de.wiktionary account? Or what has happened? Or has the global account Vorlage now 2 different passwords in the projects? I didn't find any entry for that in the server admin log, but there has been an entry for the JS accounts which also were mentioned, see here:
  • 18:46 legoktm: force merged User:Js@ruwiki to User:Js@global per global-renamers list
I still don't understand, why it was so easy for these accounts to be merged, but that User:Vorlage@dewiki can't be renamed back or merged. What is different? I don't know who originally had created the account User:Vorlage@dewiktionary and nobody seems to know. He seems to be inactive since years. So, why can't Vorlage~dewiki@de.wikipedia not be merged or renamed back? What is the problem now? I don't understand this whole thing here. Perhaps you can ask the user yourself on dewiki, if there are questions about it. He already stated something here as you see on the subpage. --Winternacht (talk) 18:07, 7 June 2015 (UTC)

I am closing this as duplicate of the request in the pending queue, and we will use that request to merge the accounts when the global merge tool is available.  — billinghurst sDrewth 04:08, 8 June 2015 (UTC)

Ok, then do it this way. Hopefully, there will not arise more problems with the merging then. --Winternacht (talk) 21:28, 9 June 2015 (UTC)

Yeah, it was not my intention to have him send the password to me like that. That being said, that account could probably be nuked as he has no intention of editing. Thanks for the rename! Elee (talk) 19:49, 16 June 2015 (UTC)
