Requests for usurpation or deleting global accounts

Marinna

The following discussion is closed.

hola, no sé si es aquí donde tengo que dirigirme, para que estas cuentes queden unifcadas con el mismo pasword, en una cuenta global.
I whould whould like to have these inactive accounts ursuped so that I can get a global account:
w:en:MarinnacontribslogCentralAuthusurp
wikt:en:MarinnacontribslogCentralAuthusurp
w:pt:MarinnacontribslogCentralAuthusurp
w:ru:MarinnacontribslogCentralAuthusurp
w:sl:MarinnacontribslogCentralAuthusurp
Desde ya gracias! --Marinna 14:10, 2 April 2009 (UTC)

Hola Marinna, ya tienes una cuenta global, para unificar estas cuentas:
    * commons.wikimedia.org
    * en.wikipedia.org
    * en.wiktionary.org
    * pt.wikipedia.org
    * ru.wikipedia.org
    * sl.wikipedia.org

Amanuense

The following discussion is closed.

Hi I'm user Amanuense at spanish Wikipedia. I made SUL some weeks ago, but here in Meta it seems not possible, because it already exists, but has no edits [1] Could be released for SUL? I leave the same message on my discussion at spanish wikipedia to prove my identity here (I apologize for my poor english). --168.96.132.19 16:56, 3 April 2009 (UTC)

Hi, please simply log in (not signup) to Your account, the Meta account is attached to the global account "Amanuense". Best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 07:52, 4 April 2009 (UTC)

I want to usurp the following accounts

Thank you. מור שמש 05:42, 4 April 2009 (UTC)

Hello, all those wikis have local bureaucrats, please ask for renames there (interwikilinks to the requestpages can be found on this page, or type special:listusers/bureaucrat into the searchfield on the local wiki), thanks. Please note that usurping might not be possible on some projects if the accounts have edits, best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 07:52, 4 April 2009 (UTC)

Sergey Chernyshev

The following discussion is closed.

I'd like this account on Russian wikipedia to be merged with my unified account:

I also noticed a couple of projects were not merged as i have different email addresses there, please merge them as well:

Thank you, Sergey Chernyshev 16:04, 10 April 2009 (UTC)

Hello, Your account "Сергей Чернышев" on ru.wiki can't be merged to the global account "Sergey Chernyshev" unless it is renamed to that name, but for renaming please ask on ru.wiki, because they have local bureaucrats (link to requestpage see interwikilink on the left). Afterwards You can merge it via special:mergeaccount. The other two wikis are not included in the global login system, which is why You can't merge them. Best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 14:59, 12 April 2009 (UTC)

Joseph

The following discussion is closed.

I want to usurp the following accounts. All three accounts do not have any edits. I previously asked for ta wiki, for te wiki, and twice for el wikisourse. They were both stewards at that time (and they still are), but didn't replied. So I suppose those wikis can be considered as "without active bureaucrats". --Joseph 17:37, 12 April 2009 (UTC)

--Joseph 17:37, 12 April 2009 (UTC)

Hello, all those wikis have local crats, please ask for renames there (interwikilinks to the requestpages can be found on this page, or type special:listusers/bureaucrat into the searchfield on the local wiki), thanks. Please note that usurping might not be possible on some projects if the accounts have edits, best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 17:43, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
There are 2 "active" bureaucrats in el wikisource, which I asked the both. They didn't even repiled. Not everyone replies in 6 minutes (thanks by the way). --Joseph 17:48, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
I understand, however, if they don't grant the rename there is nothing we can do, since the possibility to create a global account does not mean to have the right to usurp all local accounts. But maybe they don't know how to rename or don't understand why You are requesting this, You can offer them to contact me for help or further explainations, I would recommend to explain them kindly that the account has 0 edits and that it is blocking Your sul unification which You would like to complete, best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 17:58, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
Thanks.--Joseph 18:02, 12 April 2009 (UTC)

Highlander

The following discussion is closed: done on Meta:Changing username

Hi, I'm user Highlander from fr.wikipedia.org since 2003 and I'm in the process of creating a SUL. I can't login on meta.wikimedia.org as there already is a "Highlander" account here which only have one edit dating back to 2004, so I want to usurp the following account on meta.wikimedia.org. Thanks.

--82.236.45.205 11:31, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

Hi, I copied your request to Meta:Changing username as this should be dealt with by bureaucrats and not by stewards. --Erwin 13:02, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
Thanks, Erwin. Highlander 13:16, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

Pv7721@ce.wikpedia

The following discussion is closed.

Hello! I want to usurp the following account:

I've asked a couple of months ago back there at the embassy if usurpation was possible: http://ce.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Википедийа:Къоман_Векалалла&diff=prev&oldid=20371 but no one answered my question. I used to be Pv7721 on several wikipedias: http://toolserver.org/~purodha/sample/dbswithuser.php?usr=Pv7721 I got renamed to Vlad on major wikipedias (en, fr, meta, commons) but I still keep hand on the Pv7721 account. The target account has no edits: http://ce.wikipedia.org/wiki/Башхо:Contributions/Vlad I would like to usurp that account in order to been able to get SUL with the Vlad account. Thank you! --Vlad 10:59, 8 February 2009 (UTC)

Hello, since "Vlad" is not a global account, we would need a confirmation that the ro.wiki account (the one with the most contributions and the one with the right to create a global account out of it) is Your account. To confirm please make an logged in edit on the userpage or usertalkpage there and let us know when this is done. Best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 00:48, 16 April 2009 (UTC)
Hello! Here you go: http://ro.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Discuţie_Utilizator:Vlad&diff=2830867&oldid=2828507 So if I understand correctly, I made my request in the wrong place (I should have made it in the Rename section?) --Vlad 06:24, 16 April 2009 (UTC)
Thanks, Done, to merge the account, please go to special:mergeaccount, best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 10:07, 16 April 2009 (UTC)

Is there a way to unglobalize a user account ?

The following discussion is closed.

For some reasons, while working on Commons: I had to go to work on the Russian wikipedia. I logged in there, using my user account there ru:user:Теофило. When I came back here 2 minutes later, I was surprised to discover that my account on Commons commons:user:Teofilo had been logged off, and that I had been logged in under commons:user:Теофило, and my last edit had been saved under that name (diff). I had to log off, and log in again as commons:user:Teofilo. So if I sum up, the account-globalizing software is problematic for the following reasons :

  • If logs off people without warning them
  • It creates accounts without people's consent
  • It logs in people without their consent
  • It saves people's edit under a new identity without their consent

Is there a way to "unglobalize" my Russian Wikipedia account (especially as, as far as I know, I never requested that that account becomes a global one), so that it can be used only on the Russian language Wikipedia and is never used anywhere else especially on Commons ? Teofilo 11:02, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

Hello, creating an account now does mean to agree to all that, one is free to not create an account at all. Since all new accounts are global accounts now, we will not delete them unless there is a problem or they are empty and want to be created new
What You describe is normal, since when You log in to another account of course You can't stay logged in to the other one. But we could unmerge the ru.wiki account "Теофило" on commons and "Teofilo" on ru.wiki, but I would recommend to choose one name and rename either to "Teofilo" or "Теофило" that would solve the problem best. Best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 11:52, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
Wasn't everything much simpler and easier before ? Why compell people with agreeing with a lot of bad things when creating an account ? In the past Wikimedia projects were happy without all this "global account" nuisance. Let's go back to how Wikipedia/Wikimedia was run in the past ! How about reverting that whole "global account" thing ? Teofilo 13:16, 18 April 2009 (UTC)
You can't speak for all people. The global account thing had been proposed for years, You had Your chance to speak up. This page is not the place to talk about it, so is there anything else or this section will be closed. Best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 19:45, 18 April 2009 (UTC)
To be fair, it sounds like a primary concern of Teofilo's is the ability to have a localized username on different projects all associated with a global identity. This was discussed many times during the move to SUL, and as far as I know is still on the wishlist for future updates... but for now, you must pick one username to use on all projects, or remember to sign out and sign in again with a new username whenever you switch. -- sj | help translate |+ 20:27, 18 April 2009 (UTC)

Jem SUL or usurpation

The following discussion is closed.

Hello. I'm user jem of es.wikipedia since 2006, and I would like to get SUL with the jem account, to use it in Commons and English wikipedia, at least. But I've seen SUL has been assigned to the jem account of ru.wikipedia, who has no user page, so I don't know if it could be possible to reassign the SUL or to make an agreement with him (or if he understands English, as well). If SUL is not possible, I would like to usurp the jem account on Commons, which is registered but has no edits; it seems to me there should be no problem with the jem account in English wikipedia. Thanks in advance. 85.57.194.52 11:23, 17 April 2009 (UTC)

Hello. SUL reassignment is only possible if the user who has the SUL account agrees to that. So you would need to ask him first. Usurpation on Commons is processed by their bureaucrats, you can request it there. Best regards, --Thogo (talk) 11:29, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
OK, I'll try to talk to the russian jem, and I've made the usurpation request in Commons already. Anyway, it seems a little unfair that the SUL for jem is assigned to a newer and less active user than me, only because SUL wasn't available when I registered (I suppose that's the reason); it should have been assigned to existing accounts by default, asking in case of conflict. But I'll try to work it out. Thank you. Jemori 19:53, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
Your account may be older a few month, but you registered yours under another name. You are only active under this name since 17th April 2009, while the Russian Jem has it since several years. It makes me wonder why the Spanish bureaucrat renamed you and took away a part of the global account of somebody else. -- Cecil 21:15, 17 April 2009 (UTC)

Well, you're right, but I did try to register as Jem back in 2006 and I couldn't (I really don't know why). I understood that the change in the Spanish wikipedia would be under the rules and that's why I asked for it (and they did it). And honestly I didn't know it would be so much complicated elsewhere, or I would have thought it twice. Anyway, I don't want to mess any more. If I can't contact with the Russian jem, I'll leave things as they are. Thanks and sorry for the inconveniences. Jemori 23:50, 17 April 2009 (UTC)

The rename on es.wikipedia [2] definitly should not have been done, the target account "Jem" is a global account assigned to a different user (global since "3. september 2008"!), the bureaucrat did create a conflict account for the global user, that error should be reverted. Best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 19:14, 18 April 2009 (UTC)
I have left him a note. Best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 19:22, 18 April 2009 (UTC)
I have undone the rename. Please forgive my clumsiness. Regards, --Lucien leGrey (m · es) 19:57, 18 April 2009 (UTC)
Many thanks, don't worry about it, everything is back to before and no harm remains, the only option for Jemori would be to contact the ru.wiki user, if he wants to give up his sul account and get renamed to something else. But I would recommend to just chose another name (I did that too years ago ;o) ), "Jemori" is a complete working sul account without blocking accounts, so why not sticking to that and just changing the signature to something like '[[User:Jemori|Jem]]' ;) best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 14:21, 19 April 2009 (UTC)

Sorry for the inconveniences to everyone. I thought in the first place that Jem was free to use in Commons and English wikipedia, and I wouldn't have asked for the rename in es.wikipedia knowing what I know now. I'll stick to the Jemori SUL account with a modified signature (already had it like that) and I'll try that people remember about "jem" and not "jemori". Again, sorry and thank you anyway. Jemori 18:46, 19 April 2009 (UTC)

Don't worry Jemori, all the best to You, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 20:41, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

i am 3 accounts away from sul-completion, i have unified most, my "account is active on 756 project sites", but "unconfirmed accounts with your name remain on 3 projects":

hence i want to usurp the following accounts, patiently awaiting the es.wikiquote being handled by its only active local bureaucrat, please merge:

SUL - Aum

The following discussion is closed.

Hello, I was registered on cz.wiki as Aum since 2006 and I have an account Aum-cz on en.wiki too. I createed an unified account Aum recently but I've found about 10 Aum users on different wikis. Since there are only 4 apparently inactive AUM accounts (http://toolserver.org/~vvv/sulutil.php?user=AUM), I asked for renaming my cz account to AUM. Now I am AUM on cz.wiki but my unified account is still Aum. Is it possible to change it to AUM and usurp 4 AUM accounts? Thanks AUM (cz) / Aum (cz) / Aum-en (en)--78.102.11.79 19:48, 25 April 2009 (UTC)

SUL - Theta682

I want to be renamed to Theta682 with the following accounts

--\Theta 13:11, 29 April 2009 (UTC)

Hello, metawiki and mediawikiwiki have local crats, please ask for renames there (interwikilinks to the requestpages can be found on this page, or type special:listusers/bureaucrat into the searchfield on the local wiki), thanks.
For be.wikipedia: please confirm that "Theta682" is owned by You, it is a global account and the local one with most edits seem to be en:User:Theta682, please make a confirmation on the talkpage there that this request is done by You.
Thanks and best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 13:16, 29 April 2009 (UTC)
I added text in be:User talk:Theta682-- \Theta 13:33, 29 April 2009 (UTC)
Hello, sorry, I had not been clear enough [3], we need confirmation that "Theta682" is Your account, so You need to log in to it and confirm this request while logged in, You can even do that on Meta, but You need to be logged into the other account, thanks, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 13:36, 29 April 2009 (UTC)
Yes, sure I did it.\Theta 07:33, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
Thanks, [Theta682], Done, for meta see interwikilink on the left (bureaucrats might read this page but it is faster there), for mediawikiwiki, I would recommend to contact a bureaucrat directly, to find an active one scroll to the bottom of this link: stewardry:mediawikiwiki: listcrats. Best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 08:58, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
The "Theta" account on mediawiki.org has no contributions and it appears you've already created "Theta682" there. There's no point in renaming it. VasilevVV has performed the rename for you for Meta. Closing as done. Kylu 07:38, 2 May 2009 (UTC)

Both of those projects have local bureaucrats, so you need to request that they perform the renames, since stewards can't overrule the local projects. Please click the "crats" links in your request to see who they are. Kylu 17:20, 3 May 2009 (UTC)
