#5624 new enhancement

Currently if a translator suggests a new translation, it is not visible to see directly that an existing translation is present

Description

Currently if a PTE or GTE accepts a suggestion, it will be stored in the database
If a translator adds suggestions via import that differ from the existing translation, then this record is inserted and set to "Waiting"
Or if he makes a change, the original stays (should be), and the new suggestion is put into the Waiting que.
For the PTE and GTE it is extra work to check if already a translation exists.
He/she needs to select the option for "translation history"
It would be great if the PTE/GTE could see this immediately because the suggestion is marked somewhere in the screen.
If no mark is present the suggestion can be accepted without a doubt if it is OK
However there are a lot of translators trying to get translations on their name.
So they slightly change the translation, wich then will be approved if the PTE or GTE does not check it.
It would speed up approving suggestions if you could see that an existing translation is already present.

As a first step, indicating existing translation would be great.
In addition, I'd like to have an easy way to check the existing translation(s) and their status without transitioning to another screen.

Example on translate.wordpress.com

Maybe show a popup containing the existing translation could be shown automatically it there exists a validated translation

I would love to see this implemented. As I opened a ticket about something similar recently. https://meta.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/5657

It would aid the translation process especially with fuzzy strings a ton!

more realistic scenario:

Some translators just import their POedit work, sometimes waiting strings are suggesting worse, but still acceptable translation.

Also when PTE/GTE is trying to fix translation, it is common to see that such translation already exists (and even its the current one).

At least any indication that string has already current translation should be done
