Now in its 81st year, the Association of Higher Civil and Public Servants (AHCPS) met recently for its 2024 Annual Delegate Conference. Delegates discussed a range of motions put forward by the Association’s 4,000+ civil servants and managers across 50 branches in the commercial and non-commercial State sector. Issues referred to in the motions included: ⭕The right to disconnect ⭕Improved policies relating to miscarriage ⭕Fertility treatment ⭕Domestic Violence ⭕Calling on the Association to promote and protect the trade union tradition of upholding anti-racist and inclusive work cultures. This month marks the end of Anthony Haughey's exhibition 'we make our own histories' at the National Museum of Ireland. Back in March, we were tasked with supporting our client National Museum of Ireland on the launch of this exhibition which is the culmination of Anthony's work with more than 500 people around Ireland during his 3-year residency at the museum. This month marked a significant milestone for our client, Balance For Better Business, as they set ambitious goals to achieve gender balance in Ireland's workforce. On May 1st, Balance For Better Business launched their 5-year strategy to advance gender-balanced female leadership, and we are proud to support them on this journey. The initiative aims for organisations to exceed *40%* female representation on company boards and senior leadership teams. This is definitely a space to watch!
Q4PR is delighted to be working with The Bar of Ireland and The Family Lawyers Association on their campaign about the Family Courts Bill, which included a well-attended Summit in Dublin last week. The activity highlighted their concerns about proposals in the Family Courts Bill 2022 to reallocate most divorce, judicial separation, and co-habitation proceedings to the District Court. A survey published at the Summit, conducted amongst family law practitioners, revealed widespread opposition to the proposal, and concerns about its impact. The Summit was addressed by Sara Phelan SC , Chair of the Council of The Bar of Ireland, Paul McCarthy SC, Chair of the Family Lawyers Association, Keith Walsh SC , Managing Partner of Keith Walsh Solicitors and Caroline Counihan, Legal Support Manager, Safe Ireland. It was expertly moderated by Ingrid Miley BL.
