This came up in the latest FSE Outreach Program's All Things Media exploration:

In adding the required attribution to a featured image, I opted to include that as the caption. Featured Images on Single Posts normally do not display captions. It’d be great to have a way from the media library or block settings to append any attribution required AND define where that displayed in templates. I’d like to display the attribution before post comments and after post content.

Including the feedback here for future thinking :) In my mind, this could perhaps be a block that can or can't be removed using locking properties but that could be placed in different spots.
