"Team, tactics and tools" 🚀 Here are some key learnings from my interview with Maria Monràs, VP of Sales at Amphora 👇🏼 María is an outstanding leader and capable individual. Managing a team to outperform themselves continuously and prepare for the future. From both a professional and personal standpoint. Here are some insights from our conversation (and check comments for the full interview): 1️⃣ Zero to Hero is real. 32x in 3 years. First grow on volume. Learn continuously and adapt. Then, adapt. Create tactics based on what you hear from clients. You can't A/B test without volume. Identify high value clients. And sprint. 2️⃣ Be coachable or be expendable. These are not Maria's words but they are mine. Her team is one that is not only expected but also DISPOSED to be coached. To learn and improve. To receive criticism. If they aren't coachable, they are expendable. Best results come from humble yet motivated team members. 3️⃣ 1:1's well done, well structured, and well executed will motivate your team. You are probably tired of hearing 1:1's and having them with your manager. It's probably because you feel you are losing that time. For Maria these were key in developing her team. Structure it. Make it better. Make it a coaching session. Know what you have to prepare, prepare what you have to show. And managers, help your team members, receive feedback from them and continue improving. 4️⃣ Transformative tools. Choose right, sell right. Find those that are useful to you and apply to your company. For Maria it's key to have a CRM, a lead generation software, and notetakers to improve productivity (shoutout to @piperai ) 5️⃣ Do more with less (time). Be efficient. 5. if you need, use tools like Trello to manage tasks and reduce mental blocks. Work early or at the time your brain functions faster. But do it without interruptions. 6️⃣ Little teams, great results. Auto-managed bubbles with leaders of each of them. Each team unified and reporting through that leader. Agile, better connection and coordination. This strategy helped Amphora improve team results significantly. 7️⃣ From snipers to sprinters From volume they transitioned to targeted high client accounts. And not only that, they sprint from now and then, all together, as a team, reaching out to clients and pushing to reach results and beyond. 8️⃣ Prepare for war. Bootcamp and onboarding like you are a Navy Seal (of sales). In other words, less theory, more practice. Prepare for what your day to day will be. Cold calling is difficult. Losing a deal is difficult. Negotiating is difficult. Sales are difficult. If your onboarding doesn't prepare you for that, you'll be out.
