Wikipedia:Requests for tools

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Request for Tools (RFT) is the process by which the Wikipedia community decides whether or not an editor could be trusted with tools that help with maintenance task. Unlike request for adminship, an editor can request access to a single module of the Administrative tools instead of the entire bundle. After significant work with one module an editor may apply for a second module, or even for adminship. This is meant to be a easier process because editors are only given one administrative module, and therefore possess less of a security risk. If the editor performs good work with the module(s), it would make it easier for other editors to evaluate and trust the user at an RFA. Editors may not acquire all three modules without an RFA or strong community consensus. To request a module, a user either submits his/her own request for tools (a self-nomination) or is nominated by another user. Please be familiar with the administrators' reading list, how-to guide, and guide to requests for tools before submitting your request.
