Hello, OpalYosutebito, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like this place and decide to stay.

Why can't I edit some particular pages?
Some pages that have been vandalized repeatedly are semi-protected, meaning that editing by new or unregistered users is prohibited through technical measures. If you have an account that is four days old and has made at least 10 edits, then you can bypass semi-protection and edit any semi-protected page. Some pages, such as highly visible templates, are fully-protected, meaning that only administrators can edit them. If this is not the case, you may have been blocked or your IP address caught up in a range block.
Where can I experiment with editing Wikipedia?
How do I create an article?
See how to create your first article, then use the Article Wizard to create one, and add references to the article as explained below.
How do I create citations?
  1. Do a search on Google or your preferred search engine for the subject of the Wikipedia article that you want to create a citation for.
  2. Find a website that supports the claim you are trying to find a citation for.
  3. In a new tab/window, go to the citation generator, click on the 'An arbitrary website' bubble, and fill out as many fields as you can about the website you just found.
  4. Click the 'Get reference wiki text' button.
  5. Highlight, and then copy (Ctrl+C or Apple+C), the resulting text (it will be something like <ref> {{cite web | .... }}</ref>, copy the whole thing).
  6. In the Wikipedia article, after the claim you found a citation for, paste (Ctrl+V or Apple+V) the text you copied.
  7. If the article does not have a References or Notes section (or the like), add this to the bottom of the page, but above the External Links section and the categories:
==References==
{{Reflist}}
What is a WikiProject, and how do I join one?
A WikiProject is a group of editors that are interested in improving the coverage of certain topics on Wikipedia. (See this page for a complete list of WikiProjects.) If you would like to help, add your username to the list that is on the bottom of the WikiProject page.

past_member_of

[edit]

I see you've made several edits such as this one on jazz biographies, replacing associated_acts with past_member_of in Infobox musical artist infoboxes. This and lots of other examples are wrong, as the lists name individuals, not groups or bands. Could you undo such changes, please? Removing the whole entry is probably the best solution. EddieHugh (talk) 10:26, 8 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Ok. I'll do that ASAP - OpalYosutebito (talk) 12:54, 8 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Just bringing this up again. You have made this mistake to many, prossibly hundreds, of articles (see [1][2][3][4][5][6]) and have only, as far as I cans see, fixed this on the Tommy Flannagan article. Is there anyway you can automate a revert on all of these edits as it will take a long time to clean this up manually. Vladimir.copic (talk) 01:52, 11 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ok. I'll do whatever I can to fix this mistake - OpalYosutebito (talk) 02:08, 11 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Anthony Burger

[edit]

I see you removed an associated act for Anthony Burger here. Not only did he perform and record with the group, but it was also his first his first professional recording, at age 12. I added a cite to hold over but I will find cites to include that tidbit. Maybe Chattanooga Cadek Conservatory of Music has archives. I doubt this will be enough (Album Cover) Album link to satisfy cite requirements because Discogs is user generated. ASCAP or BMI may have a record of the recording in their database. Happy editing P37307 (talk) 02:42, 12 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for adding the source! I barely saw any info on the page regarding the Celestials, and it was worded to make it sound like he merely collaborated with the band instead of being an actual member/player - OpalYosutebito (talk) 03:36, 12 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You're welcome. It is worded weird. I'll put this page on my list to find cites, etc. In that album cover photo I included above, he is the one in the whitish suit. I really hope I can find an official source, other than that album cover at Discogs, to show he was only 12-years old. Happy editing! P37307 (talk) 03:55, 12 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Agency parameter

[edit]

I have reverted this edit of yours. |agency= is a proper parameter for {{Cite web}} and {{Cite news}}. If I have missed something, please let me know. « Gonzo fan2007 (talk) @ 14:53, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I just noticed you are making these edits en masse. You need to stop immediately. I'll give you a few minutes before I block you to stop the editing. « Gonzo fan2007 (talk) @ 14:55, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I have temporarily removed your permission for AWB until this is figured out. Please respond here asap and justify the edits you are making. It appears to be thousands over the last few days and there is no way to go through each one to determine if you are removing parameters that are actually appropriate. « Gonzo fan2007 (talk) @ 15:03, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
For the edit you reverted, I found an error in one of the citations. The error I'm referring to is here. For all of these pages that I edited, I saw reference errors that said {{cite magazine}}: Empty citation (help): Unknown parameter |agency= ignored (help)
I hope this explains my reasoning. I'll try to be more careful - OpalYosutebito (talk) 15:04, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yet you removed all of the agency parameters, even valid ones in that edit. « Gonzo fan2007 (talk) @ 15:06, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Also, looking at a few more of your edits, it appears that these shouldn't just be deleted, they should be fixed. You are removing good reference information that just isn't using the appropriate parameter. The point of the warning is to fix the issue, not just delete it without reviewing it. You made 16 edits in one minute! You aren't reviewing anything you are editing. You are responsible for the edits you make. « Gonzo fan2007 (talk) @ 15:09, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I've noticed that when the contents of the agency field is a piped link, AWB only gets part, ie "|agency=AFP" results in "|AFP]]" [7] being left behind, so they appear in Category:CS1 errors: unrecognized parameter.--Auric talk 15:17, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I don't have the time to continue to dive into this issue. I have left a notice at WP:AN#Some Help with Bot-Like Editing to get some additional input. Please move the discussion there. « Gonzo fan2007 (talk) @ 15:26, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
okay. I'm fixing the errors I left behind. - OpalYosutebito (talk) 15:27, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Agency parameter in CS

[edit]

Hi, it is regarding edits like this. The 'agency' is an 'unknown parameter' only when used with 'cite magazine'. It works fine when used to 'cite news' and others. Please, change 'agency' to 'last' in relevant cases only instead of removing it all together. See this for example, works fine. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 15:46, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I'm working on changing all of the "cite magazine" templates from my previous edits to "cite news" right now. Thanks for the example! - OpalYosutebito (talk) 15:48, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Don't need to change those not showing any CS error. India Today and Outlook for example are magazines. Previously the 'agency' parm would work fine, but apparently the code was changed recently. I do "agency→last" wherever this new CS error pops up. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 15:56, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This does not fix the problem with this editing. The purpose of the CS error is not to just delete it so it goes away. It should be fixed. An example would be this edit where Opal just deleted the parameter, yet the correct outcome would be to replace {{Citation}} with {{Cite web}}. This mindless "clean-up" of maintenance templates (averaging 12 edits a minute) is detrimental to the project and runs counter to the purpose of maintenance categories. This is blockable behavior for operating AWB like a bot without bot approval. « Gonzo fan2007 (talk) @ 16:43, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
it's also an unknown parameter in "cite book", "cite report", "cite web", etc, so the only way to get rid of the error message and keep the agency parameter is to use "cite news" instead, which I'm working on right now - OpalYosutebito (talk) 17:05, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable non-free use File:Kim Jong-suk politician photo.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Kim Jong-suk politician photo.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of non-free use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of non-free use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable non-free use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable non-free use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file's talk page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification, per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. – Finnusertop (talkcontribs) 16:38, 22 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
