A tag has been placed on Bruce Roberts (News Reader) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Ironholds (talk) 19:31, 28 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please note that even if the copyright issue were resolved, the promotional tone of a company or personal website is likely be unsuitable for an encyclopedia article, which requires a neutral point of view; also that article subjects must meet the requirements explained in WP:Notability, WP:Notability (people) and, for broadcasters, WP:ENTERTAINER. Bruce Roberts (News Reader)

[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your message.

The article you wrote about Bruce Roberts wasn't deleted. It was moved to Wikipedia:Articles for creation/Bruce Roberts (News Reader). You may continue to edit it there.

I recommend that you add reliable sources to the article. For example, when you write that "Roberts has been the Anchor of WIN News since January of 2009", find a newspaper article or website that says so, and cite it as your source. See WP:CITE for more information about citing sources. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 18:38, 17 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

How references work

[edit]

Simple references

[edit]

These require two parts;

a)
Chzz is 98 years old.<ref> "The book of Chzz", Aardvark Books, 2009. </ref>

He likes tea. <ref> [http://www.nicecupofteaandasitdown.com Tea website] </ref>
b) A section called "References" with the special code "{{reflist}}";
== References ==
{{reflist}}

(an existing article is likely to already have one of these sections)

To see the result of that, please look at user:chzz/demo/simpleref. Edit it, and check the code; perhaps make a test page of your own, such as user:Bernie M Smith/reftest and try it out.

Named references

[edit]
Chzz was born in 1837. <ref name=MyBook>
"The book of Chzz", Aardvark Books, 2009.
</ref>

Chzz lives in Footown.<ref name=MyBook/>

Note that the second usage has a / (and no closing ref tag). This needs a reference section as above; please see user:chzz/demo/namedref to see the result.

Citation templates

[edit]

You can put anything you like between <ref> and </ref>, but using citation templates makes for a neat, consistent look;

Chzz has 37 Olympic medals. <ref> {{Citation
 | last = Smith
 | first = John
 | title = Olympic medal winners of the 20th century
 | publication-date = 2001
 | publisher = [[Cambridge University Press]]
 | page = 125
 | isbn = 0-521-37169-4
}}
</ref>

Please see user:chzz/demo/citeref to see the result.

For more help and tips on that subject, see user:chzz/help/refs.

Hi CharlieEchoTango

I'm hoping you might be able to work though the Bruce Roberts page. After my initial attempt, I peared the entry back but it now seems you don't think this guy notable enough. I'd appreciate your help.

The three major work associations for Roberts are huge...

Home and Away - Three year stint acting a lead role on Australia's second longest running series.

Mamma Mia! - Roberts performed the lead male role for three years in the musical in Australian Capital Cities, New Zealand, Hong Kong and Singapore.

WIN News - is the highest rating news or current affairs program in Regional Victoria. And WIN is Australia's largest TV network.

He is also listed up to 10 times on different pages already on Wiki...

Can you please tell me what my next step should be?

Thanks BernBernie M Smith (talk) 01:40, 1 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Honest advice

[edit]

...edit something else. At least, for now.

You'll learn more about Wikipedia; you'll meet other editors who will help you.

Keep the draft on-hold, and maybe come back to that later. With added sources, sure, it might become 'notable'.

Meanwhile, get involved. Try Wikipedia:New south wales, WP:TV, or whatever. Check WP:CLEANUP or WP:BACKLOG. Don't be labelled a single-purpose account.

 Chzz  ►  01:48, 1 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Chzz, once again you've proved yourself a generous and patient person. Thanks and I will try something different.

Bernie Bernie M Smith (talk) 00:04, 2 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

At least, at first, mmm. There is no deadline. Wikipedia will be around for a long long time, so you can always come back to the draft article later. Best of luck,  Chzz  ►  00:07, 2 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Your article submission Bruce Roberts (News Reader)

[edit]

Hello Bernie M Smith. It has now been over six months since you last edited your article submission, entitled Bruce Roberts (News Reader).

The page will shortly be deleted. If you plan on editing the page to address the issues raised when it was declined and resubmit it, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}} or {{db-g13}} code. Please note, however, that Articles for Creation is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you want to retrieve it, copy this code: {{subst:Refund/G13|Wikipedia:Articles for creation/Bruce Roberts (News Reader)}}, paste it in the edit box at this link, click "Save", and an administrator will in most cases undelete the submission.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. Rankersbo (talk) 15:28, 1 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
