Hey I think it's about time that you update this to add Lion on it :P 24.199.22.34 (talk) 21:06, 22 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You'd think so, but Apple's not selling a boxed version of Lion! It's App Store (and later, thumb drive) only! Althepal (talk) 18:49, 24 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article 8BF has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable file extension. No references since Feb 2007. No claim to notability. No significant content on google.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ReactOS

[edit]

Heya, noticed you had left some comments in the talk archives in the ReactOS article, and I thought I should just drop a note. Would you be interested in reworking (or at least guiding a rework) the parts of the article that you feel might be too optimistic? The bias that you might have seen in the article might be largely my fault, since I was once involved in the project as an observer too, though in writing the article I'm mostly interested in knowing if the open source movement can build a binary-compatible replacement for Windows. LoneRifle (talk) 02:30, 20 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi LoneRifle. Sorry, I no longer have the time available to do this kind of editing. You know, this article as an interesting piece. In my opinion, it's far more detailed than a project of this scale, capacity, and real-world significance should be, but I certainly don't think that it has to be dumbed-down after it's already been written. I think the main issues I have with the article are that it makes all kinds of small statements whenever they suit ReactOS (like saying it was featured in SourceForge or that it has a fast boot time or that it can be stable or that it could have various implications, none of those are surprising given the nature and size of ReactOS, and they're not important statements; they only make ReactOS look good) and that the overall feel of the article is one of an actively developed, usable, and to-be-amazing project. About six years ago, this article on Wikipedia actually made me think that this was going to be a real thing and that people would use ReactOS instead of Vista very soon. (Of course that was when it was newer and not so obviously vaporware.) But it actually made me get INVOLVED and contribute and stuff, all because of an article with a biased motive behind it. Let's face it, 8 years ago it got a working GUI and still today it is nowhere near usable. It's true that it is somewhat impressive that there is even a semblance of functionality on an open-source WIndows clone, but still. You get my drift, it needs to be toned down. Using the following picture in an open access publication

Hello, I recently came across your picture of a worker termite (Workertermite1.jpg), found on Wikipedia. I am hoping to confirm that you took this picture and to attribute it to you, under the Creative Commons License for publication in an open access journal article focusing on insects and their associated bacteria. If you would like, I can send you the figure where the termite image would appear in the article. Please do contact me and let me know. Proposed deletion of Cosmigo Pro Motion

permission to use your image

[edit]

Dear Althepal:

My name is Mary Liz Jameson, and I am an entomologist who works primarily on scarab beetle ecology and evolution.
Among your work is a very good image of Paracotalpa granicollis (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Althepal#/media/File:Little_Bear_Beetle.jpg). Would you be willing for your photo to be used in an upcoming resource for identification of beetles in Canada and North America? The book will be called "Beetles of Canada and the United States," and it is being written and compiled by many beetle enthusiasts across the US and Canada. Authors will not receive financial compensation. Your photo is really appealing and it shows all of the important characteristics of the species, so it would be a valuable addition.
Most of the photos that we have included (that are not our own) are in the public domain like your photo ("CC-BY"), meaning that the photo can be shared as long as it is attributed and as long as the user is not making a profit from it.
If you allow use of your photograph for the purposes of the book, we would like to use your first and last name in the attribution. Can you provide this information?
Thank you! I look forward to hearing from you.

Very sincerely, Mary Liz Jameson 2600:8803:7B02:C900:90DC:F0DD:21CA:5BC0 (talk) 13:20, 7 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
