My name is Tony Cai and I'm currently a sophomore at State University of New York (SUNY) Stony Brook University. I'm pursuing a BA in Sociology and Computer Science. I'm currently also official blogger of Stony Brook admissions. I have been a Wikipedian for sometime now, I don't remember exactly when. I'm a little pissed that universities don't let you cite sources from Wikipedia. This page will be built to extend the About Me page on my blog.

Primary education

[edit]

I attended elementary school at Hernando DeSoto School (PS130M) in Lower Manhattan from Kindergarten to 5th grade. Gotten suspended for a week in 1st grade for kicking a girl who was dragging me on the roof of the schcool, it was self defense. I graduated June 1999 from PS130M. I then went onto middle school at Dr. Sun Yat-sen (M.S. 131M) also in the downtown area, graduated 2002. High school was the time when I began to see a transition in my life. A transition for the better, my interest in Computer Sciences spurred and I self taught myself the many things that I know now. Before I began to do decent at school, I was cutting school everyday. The high school was Murry Bergtraum High School for Business Careers, I was part of the N House for Computer Sciences. At junior year, I stopped cutting school and directed my focus on education and startup businesses. I got involved with every extra curricular activity I had an opportunity to do and after junior every faculty member of Bergtraum has heard of me or know of me. I was the one person who started the proxy networks that challenged NY Board of Education internet security networks. I freed New York City students from being blocked from Sconex and MySpace, the social networks that were popular at the time.

Secondary education

[edit]

My secondary education is acquired through Stony Brook University. SBU was my first goal right out of high school to attend this university, distance and availability of my major was the reason. I'm a member of EOP 2006 and proud of it. I live in Langmuir College on the West Side of the campus and live in C214. My first semester, I worked at Disability Support Services (DSS) and revamped the DSS Newsletter. For the Fall 07 to Spring 08 semesters, I will be officially Stony Brook admissions blogger, 8 lucky students from the university will work on recruiting students for next year.

How did you learn all this?

[edit]

I started designing and developing websites as early as 2002. I have always been self taught through the trial and error method with my rented server. I believe everyone can become a well accomplished designer through trying things out for yourself and investing a good amount of time in it. Currently I'm working to fully master Ajax and Web 2.0.
