Music

[edit]

On 9 July 2016, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Jane Little (musician), which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Jane Little was short in stature, played a large instrument, and was longest in tenure, setting a Guinness World Record at the Atlanta Symphony? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Jane Little (musician). You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Jane Little (musician)), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Some tips on epicene (gender-neutral) pronouns

[edit]

Singular they is useful for addressing editors of unknown gender, and it doesn't have the awkwardness of he or she, s/he, hir, or ze:[1]

  • They contributed info
  • I gave them a barnstar
  • Their writing is awesome
  • That user page is theirs
  • They reverted themself

...but in multi-party discussions, it is often better to address an editor with their user name because pronouns -- whether gender-neutral or not -- can sometimes be confusing:

  • Common2All contributed info
  • I gave Common2All a barnstar
  • Common2All's writing is awesome
  • That user page is Common2All's
  • Common2All reverted themself
