Aircraft Multirole parameter request

[edit]

Can someone add {{aircraft_multirole}} be added to the aircraft parameter section please. This will be very helpful for special operations units.

We already have {{{aircraft_helicopter_multirole}}}

Gavbadger (talk) 20:12, 1 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Why would it be helpful for specops units? I don’t understand. RadioactiveBoulevardier (talk) 00:21, 16 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
So on articles like 193rd Special Operations Wing, it will explain more than just "MC-130J". It is noticable on "Special Operations Squadron" articles that their is no aircraft listed within the infoboxes. Gavbadger (talk) 20:37, 16 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I'd appreciate a "war crimes" (or similar) property, so that massacres of civilian populations can be listed in a similar fashion to how battles against hostile military units currently are. Ideally, this would be the lines "war_crimes" (and perhaps "war_crimes_label"), listed right beneath the lines "battles" and "battles_label". It feels rather macabre to designate war crimes as military engagements, and it is unacceptable to not have any infobox category for them at all.

Another useful category would be a "fate" (or similar) property, preferably placed right at the end of the initial section (below the current "website" property). This could be used for defunct units that were restructured, repurposed or destroyed to list in brief what happened to them.

Not done for now: please establish a consensus for this alteration before using the {{Edit template-protected}} template. When applicable these sound like things to be included in article content, not in infoboxes, but that's just me. P.I. Ellsworth , ed. put'er there 11:03, 14 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Sergeant Major and Command Sergeant Major

[edit]

commander4 displays Command Sergeant Major but Command Sergeant Major is primarily a US Army specific rank and billet that doesn't exist in other branches. It's odd to have a Marine Corps page that lists a Command Sergeant Major. A Marine SgtMaj would be referred to as a battalion/regimental/division Sergeant Major, never "Command". Can "Sergeant Major" be added as {{{commander5}}}/{{{sergeant_major}}}? SkonesMickLoud (talk) 03:18, 7 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@SkonesMickLoud: If you didn't filled in |commander4_label= parameter, then default label is "Command Sergeant Major". If you want that label to be battalion/regimental/division Sergeant Major or any other label, then you just need to filled in that parameter. Ckfasdf (talk) 07:23, 7 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It probably ought not to default to anything, except a generic term. GraemeLeggett (talk) 10:29, 7 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed, I wasn't asking for battalion/regiment/division Sergeant Major labels, just a generic "Sergeant Major" instead of/in addition to "Command Sergeant Major". The label method works I guess, but it seems like Sergeant Major should be the default and Command could be added with the label. A quick search of Sergeant Major shows that only two branches (the US Army and the IDF) use Command Sergeant Major while the rest use Sergeant Major, making the latter far more common. SkonesMickLoud (talk) 14:59, 7 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Default label for |commander2_label= is "Ceremonial chief" and for commander3_label is |commander3_label= is "Colonel of the Regiment", I believe those are also not that commonly used as well. However, if we don't want to those use default label, then we just need to fill in that parameter. And also that's what suggested in the documentation The infobox allows for up to three current commanders to be specified; the exact roles or titles of these individuals should be specified via the corresponding label parameters. Request

[edit]

Can someone add a parameter for units that came before and after the one the infobox is about similar to preceded and succeeded parameters on a former country infobox

  • | succeeded_by =
  • | preceded_by =

or alternatively a shorter form of s and p but using a numbering system

  • |s1 =
  • |p1 =

if you could make this work I would appreciate it AvailableViking (talk) 01:29, 14 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Define before and after. Are you talking about amalgamations as opposed to name changes. GraemeLeggett (talk) 12:54, 14 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
