Hi, is there any reason that this page needs to go through a consensus process to be moved? Or any reason that it needs to be moved? How about just doing a redirect? An An 02:54, 9 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I see no real reason for it to be moved as it already sufficiently disambiguated from W.I.T.C.H. - perhaps the proposer would like to open discussion as to why this page should be moved? --Lox (t,c) 12:43, 12 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've taken down the move request because: (1) It wasn't properly formed. Nothing was noted at Wikipedia:Requested_moves, so no discussion has taken place at all; and (2) and there's been no response about why it should be moved. I hope that's OK. AnAn 00:40, 17 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Of course! I was going to remove it myself since I didn't see any discussion forthcoming from the proposer! --Lox (t,c) 07:57, 17 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the debate was Move. WP:NCA states a guideline with an exception, "Avoid the use of acronyms in page naming unless the term you are naming is almost exclusively known only by its acronyms and is widely known and used in that form". This does not qualify under the exception stated. —Wknight94 (talk) 02:35, 29 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No Consensus

[edit]

I'd like to know since when were decisions allowed to be made with no consensus? If you look at that "debate" above there was no consensus but merely TWO people making OPPOSITE statements that is NOT consensus by any stretch of the imagination... --174.45.184.184 (talk) 17:48, 25 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

btw yes I know it was a long time ago and the results aren't the important thing it is people's disregard for the rules going on here could have just been the earlier in a trend where it is actually making a bigger impact now. --174.45.184.184 (talk) 17:51, 25 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Propose merge of Women Incensed at Telephone Company Harassment

[edit]

I suggest merging Women Incensed at Telephone Company Harassment into this article. It's a very short article because it's not really a different organization - it's an instance of the W.I.T.C.H. concept described in this article. It makes more sense to me to describe it in context with the other W.I.T.C.H. actions. Dreamyshade (talk) 23:39, 25 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, that would make much more sense! 2603:300A:207:5900:9C76:8478:16B8:55B4 (talk) 03:41, 30 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that Women Incensed at Telephone Company Harassment is a WITCH Coven. Per the introduction to the WITCH documents in Sisterhood Is Powerful:

WITCH was born on Halloween, 1968, in New York, but within a few weeks Covens had sprung up in such diverse spots as Boston, Chicago, San Francisco, North Carolina, Portland (Oregon), Austin (Texas), and Tokyo (Japan)... A certain common style...unite[s] the Covens, which are otherwise totally autonomous... The fluidity and wit of the Witches is evident in the ever-changing acronym: the basic, original title was Women's International Terrorist Conspiracy from Hell, but on Mother's Day one Coven became Women Infuriated at Taking Care of Hoodlums; another group, working at a major Eastern insurance corporation, became Women Indentured to Traveler's Corporate Hell; still another set of infiltrators, working at Bell Telephone, manifested themselves disruptively as Women Incensed at Telephone Company Harassment. When hexing inflationary prices at supermarkets, a Midwest Coven appeared as Women's Independent Taxpayers, Consumers, and Homemakers; Women Interested in Toppling Consumption Holidays was another transfiguratory appellation--and the latest heard at this writing is Women Inspired to Commit Herstory.

Honestly, I think the Women's International Terrorist Conspiracy from Hell page is misnamed; the organization(s) was/were named WITCH, and the rest are backronyms. IcebergSings (talk) 22:11, 1 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
