One of the Best

[edit]

I just hauled out some old, saved magazines and have found that I saved SF+ March 1953 (Vol 1 No 1) to its last issue Dec 1953 (Vol 1 No 7); alas the May 1953 (Vol 1 No 4) issue is missing. I was 13-14 at the time and considered it to be the best, highest quality SyFy mag of the era because it was slick, oversize, and it made a sincere attempt to explain and clarify the science fiction genré with learned essays and (real) science and astronomy articles. Correction

[edit]

I have changed the following sentence:

"Edited by Hugo Gernsback and Sam Moskowitz, the 68-page magazine sold for 35 cents and ran for eight issues, from November 1952 to December 1953."

to

"Edited and published by Hugo Gernsback, the 68-page magazine (the front and back covers were counted as pages) sold for 35¢ and ran for seven issues, from March 1953 (Vol 1 No 1) to December 1953 (Vol 1 No 7).

The reason I left out Moskowitz in that he was Managing Editor and if you include him as an "edited by" person then Executive Editor M. Harvey Gernsback and other lesser editors should also be included. Dangnad (talk) 19:57, 1 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
