I have changed this from a disambig page to a short history of Rover Group as I believe it warrants a better page Penrithguy 21:45, 24 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Rover Group logo.jpg

[edit]

Image:Rover Group logo.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 10:36, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

BMW (UK) HOLDINGS LIMITED is the direct legal successor of the car company that is the subject of this article, as the evidence on Companies House clearly demonstrates. |BMW (UK) Holdings Limited[1] If you have information which demonstrates that Companies House is incorrect, please get them to update their records PRIOR to editing this Wikipedia Entry. This article is concerned with a car manufacturing company. So I believe that the successors in the infobox should be limited to its car manufacturing successors - the companies that inherited the car marques that the Rover Group manufactured - not the various non-manufacturing holding companies that the remnant shell companies passed through the hands of. -- DeFacto (talk). 16:32, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Disagree, however even on your own premise BMW is a successor to Rover Group as it produces the Mini in Rover's Cowley (now call Oxford) plant and owns and operates the Rover Swindon pressings plant. Champion150 (talk) 08:33, 23 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough - I accept that BMW are their successors with respect to just the Mini marque. -- DeFacto (talk). 08:56, 23 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Mini isn't a company, it's a brand name owned by BMW and thus can't be defined as a sucessor to the company Rover Group.
BMW also make parts for non-Mini branded products in the ex Rover factories. Champion150 (talk) 09:12, 23 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, and the brand explains the link - hence the parentheses. The ownership and use of the factories, or any other asset is irrelevant. Or we'd have to list all the owners of the shops and houses build on ex-Longbridge factory land - wouldn't we? -- DeFacto (talk). 10:37, 23 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
