Colour rather than color

[edit]

I've changed the spelling to colour since that was the spelling used in the coining of the phrase, per [1], the original outlining of the idea. Hiding T 09:26, 25 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm currently adding to the page

[edit]

I've been working with Poul-Henning for the last couple of years and I found his page somewhat lacking. I know him through the Varnish Cache project. I can't see a conflict of interest here. Please correct me if I'm wrong to think so. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Perbu (talkcontribs) 13:49, 16 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Pic with Tux?

[edit]

Heh. FreeBSD dev photographed with Tux? Surely there's an image with a cuddly Beastie toy :-) - David Gerard (talk) 08:19, 29 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Anti-Semtism Allegations

[edit]

I've reverted the article back to before the anti semitism stuff was added. As you can see from the edit history, I edited the article in May 2019 to make his quotes more accurate, but did not remove it. At the time, it did seem like it was an actual controversy. After coming back to this page and running a quick google search, it does not seem like this was anything more than a twitter argument, and it does not warrant a section on Wikipedia as it cannot be cited as a controversy. If there are for example articles in reputable sources or responses by reputable people accusing him of anti-semitism, then I think that it can be added. Either way, I'm surprised nobody started a discussion on the talk page, so here you go. RadPaper (talk) 00:55, 3 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I have no horse in this race, but this section in its current form makes no sense at all. While the section header is "Anti-semitism accusations" the text says nothing about even existence of any accusations. It only quotes some random tweet and later blog post. The existence of that post might suggest there were some some accusations that made the guy write it or perhaps it was in the replies to that tweet, but the article doesn't say anything about it and doesn't mention anyone accusing him of antisemitism or there being any repercussions. If no one can fix this, then perhaps RadPaper was right about removing it. –MwGamera (talk) 07:05, 25 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Sigh, the entire episode is so disappointing to find, as I am a fan of Poul-Henning Kamp. I love his ACM Queue article, A Generation Lost in the Bazaar. I am also Jewish, and I support Israel. It DOES seem extreme to describe PHK as an anti-Semite based on this remark. I don't agree that it was merely "a random tweet" though. Tweets have persistent URLs and PHK knows about such things. PHK is also Danish and entitled to say and hold opinions as he sees fit. Sadly, lots of people hate Jews, and lots of people dislike the nation of Israel. I wish we were all Zionists like me, but we are not. This entire BLP is kind of awful, as it is so shoddy about someone with the stature of PHK. Lots of Wikipedia is like that though, and I don't have the energy to fix all of it. I will try to rephrase that section of the article now, so it isn't quite so horrendous. There are plenty of BLPs on Wikipedia about people who truly are anti-Semites, yet they don't get this sort of treatment, so I will try to be more fair. If I get reverted, so be it.--FeralOink (talk) 10:57, 29 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I found something else tonight. The quoted tweet was phrased such that phk made an if-then conjecture. It suggested his beliefs but wasn't what I would call anti-semitism. A little further on in the Twitter discussion, he said explicitly that he "hates Jews" because of, well, I don't want to misquote him. It pertains to Palestinians. Read it for yourself. The most mild way I can think of to address this episode is to take the existing "Other" section and break it up into three subsections, the last of which would be named "Hates Jews commentary". Anti-semitism might be WP:SYNTH. I don't know what to do now! I was ready to get to work on this BLP but I will let it sit for awhile, in case anyone else comes along with a better idea. Feel free to contact me on my talk page if anyone would like to work on this together.--FeralOink (talk) 03:21, 1 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
