Inheritence

Regardless of what the unsourced article linked here states, women did not as a rule inherit in this fashion. A woman does not inherit from her dead husband, she receives a third in dower, or a life estate in the property. Upon her death, she cannot will it away, it must descend to her husband's or her and her husband's heirs depending on how it was originally granted. A life estate, or holding in dower, might look like inheritence to someone reading the details unaware, but it's not the same. Wjhonson (talk) 03:27, 24 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
